Thank god my SEO is so bad that I dont need to worry about this development. is it mostly only on brand searches? or have any hot searches like cheap flights , insurance etc got them on

will do if users do site search and click adwords listings

I've seen a suggestion that it's an attempt by G to gather what should be internal site search data themselves

would think it's more a monetisation attempt, although yup they love data so they'll readily lap it up I guess.
