Re: New Best Practice Guidelines from IAB for Voucher Code Sites
Maybe it should read for 'your' use online.

I honestly think the guidelines makes things to complicated for no reason. Why do I need to separate deals/offers/sales/discount codes. To me it would be a lot easier if networks went straight to the point and disallowed "Click to Reveal". That way the consumer would see the codes on that page and there would be no confusion.

We are complying:
Discount Vouchers - Money Saving Deals on Big Brands - Offers, Vouchers, and Promotional Codes
Others complying:
Voucher Codes - Exclusive Discount Codes and Discount Vouchers
Shop Codes UK | Discount Codes | Promotions | Voucher Codes
I am sure others will once the Christmas rush is over
what is the point of slagging people off when the guideline does not come into effect until Jan 1. Complain after that date

Everything is in place here - other than having the time to go through all my past vouchers and offers and changing them to either or.
Its going to take some time I can tell you + it bores the crap out of me.
I am pretty sure most will leave it to the last minute.

A vast amount of the codes on my site expire midnight 31st December so it would be good if merchants were proactive and started distributing replacement codes earlier. It is when they leave days or weeks to replace expired codes that problems begin as the pages still get traffic from the search engines.

An increasing amount of sites are now changing and I am looking at them for ideas on how other peoples mechanisms will work after the new years ruling comes in. What can I say there are some - well 'cheeky' solutions being put in place.
Would it be against the ruling to have the code totally visible but when you right click it or try to copy and paste it it opens a window with the cookie in? Seems to be the most popular thing happening at the moment?
God this is getting be a headache changing and checking codes, my database is so messy

Another thing is unclear: "Voucher code directories must contain clear categorization and separation between deals/offers/sales and discount codes."
Deals/Offers/Sales/Discount Codes are just different names for what amounts to price discount. One can only allow for those differences if merchant provides clear categorization in his XML data feed.

I'm now complying to the new code of conduct - voucherz.co.uk | voucher codes, discount codes, promotional codes, money off coupons
Thankfully it wasnt too difficult to get this up and running as we already categorized entries by codes/deals/offers/free del e.t.c
Obvisouly there are a few loopholes in the guidelines, in that you can still use Click to Reveal, if the code is valid... also, merchants offen dont give exact end dates to codes, and hence some could stay on some sites for years/months, even though blatantly out of date.www.vouchercodesandoffers.co.uk - Voucher Codes
