US affiliate consultant needed

My site Off-Grid - life unplugged: solar, wind, hydro, architecture, smallholdings, free stuff gets a lot of visits but I am not turning that into good useful shopping experience as yet.

I have tried affiliate marketing for ages, and I am sending loads of people thropugh to the affiliate sites, but they are not buying anything. The only site that works for me is Amazon, where I made $200 last month.

My big problem is Gaiam who have received thousands of visits form me in the past two years, but produced zero revenue. Meanwhile they have launched the off-grid product range.

It is an eco web site, and I think it would be a real benefit to my readers if I could offer them a nicely packaged set of produicts such as solar panels, perhaps on a drop ship basis.

I want to pay someone to advise me on the best affilaite deals and places to go, and to actually do some deals so I can get some decent revenue coming in. I would prefer that person to be genuinely committed to the same ideals as the web site, as I think that would help produce an offering that resonates with the readers.

Half my audience is in the US, so I ought t be selling them solar panels and chargers etc. But the other half is in Europe, mainly UK - where the same applies.

I'd fix your shop first. Too many broken images so what's the tracking actually like? Also too many google adsense ads all over the place instead of really doing something with what you're promoting. Also look at the front main page and although you have plenty of articles, the site is too cluttered and not well laid out.

Navigation around the main page is very poor. Start on the aestetics of the site and see if that improves targetted traffic before offering to pay people to find suitable programs for you to promote. Really that's a waste of money and getting someone to negotiate a special % rate for your traffic is a waste of time if you are delivering numpty traffic in the first place. All click throughs should be targetted and not spurious like you have at the moment.

I just clicked through your link to a Wind Speed Indicator at Wind Speed Indicator : Offgrid Shop and the description was test before you buy and I clicked the order here because there was no test and what happened......went to the merchant main page and not the product page or any test page so didn't understand the description and just wasted my time clicking through to a non performing link.

Sort your site and your deeplinking first. You may be surprised. Also make the descriptions more meaningful and less confusing. There, just saved you my $30 an hour fee.

Hey, just kidding. I only charge merchants. Seriously though just fix your site first and test every deep link. The more info sections need sorting so a more info link to each product is a must and make sure the descriptions accurately describe the product, that way you'll get less but better targetted traffic.

One final suggestion and most of these companies do NOT have an affiliate scheme so negotiate direct with them for a personal landing page or offer to contribute for a mini-site and that is companies like Modern self build house kits from Hebridean Contemporary Homes, Scotland, UK who supply kit homes. There are firms in the UK and the US. Some have affiliate schemes but payment is only after purchase and they supply plans downloadable in pdf to submit to planning. Potential customers then look at buying after getting planning consent. Combining this "build your own home" service with eco-systems is the way forward.

That's something I was looking at from a Romanian supplier but they're not ready to go commercial yet so put it on the back burner but it strikes me that combining a deal with kit home suppliers (who for a fee will build the home too) and advice on planning law etc combined with eco-systems like solar and wind etc and you could build a really top website in time to the US/Canada and the UK.
