    Hi all,

buy.at are pleased to announce that affiliates can now integrate our deeplink generator (LinkEngine) directly into the Firefox browser! This browser add-on enables immediate deeplink generation on the fly – just one click to create an HTML-encoded deeplink that’s ready to paste straight into your HTML source.

You can find the Firefox add-on as a tab in LinkEngine. Once installed, simply navigate to the page you’d like to deeplink, and click the buy.at button next to the address bar:

…your deep link will be shown in a pop-up window and copied to your clipboard:

That can also be created with a simple right-click:

***Please note that the generated link is HTML-encoded and designed for your HTML source code – it won’t work if you copy/paste it as a direct link in a new browser window***

If you try to create a deeplink…
    - for a programme that you’re not signed up for yet – the popup contains a link through to the MA to let you apply.
    - for a site that’s not connected with the buy.at network – you’ll receive a message telling you the deeplink is not available.

As a result, this only creates links that will earn you a commission for your site.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to feedback to Ian Sproates, Software Development Manager.

I think that's a flaw - it would be much better if you could paste the link directly into a browser because then it could be used when generating short links, etc.,

    Hi Entrepreneur,

Thanks for the feedback; this is an ongoing project so we'll feed this and comments from other affiliates into the next version. Please let us know in the feedback box in your buy.at MA.

    Hi all,

thanks for all the feedback so far on the Firefox Addon. The guys have added some further functionality to this which you'll be able to see in the LinkEngine section of Content and Creative in your buy.at Plain deeplink will create one that isn’t encoded in any way so it can be, if required, copied and pasted directly into the browser.

If you're not using it yet its the perfect complement on your browser to sit alongside the Awin version - if you're already using this then just download the update here:
    https://users.buy.at/ma/index.php/engines/linkEngine

This will give you the choice of three links:

    • - Plain deeplink will create one that isn’t encoded in any way so it can be, if required, copied and pasted directly into the browser.
    • - Encoded deeplink is one that can be copy and pasted directly into the webpage code, will all characters fully HTML encoded.
    • - HTML snippet will create an HTML encoded deeplink in an anchor tag for the selected page, which can then be pasted into the webpage code with some custom link text, e.g.
    • <a href="http://playcom.at/YOURHANDLE?CTY=85&amp;DURL=http://www.play.com/Books/Books/4-/12332164/The-Hairy-Bikers-Family-Cook-Book-Mums-Know-Best/Product.html">your deeplink text here</a>

Any questions or more feedback - please contact me or any of the devteam here at buy.at.

This is a really handy tool, many thanks for the new feature updates too

Is there any way you can add bit.ly functionality to create a shortlink? (or an alternative shortlink provider)

I know bit.ly have their own API
    http://bit.ly/pages/tools/developer-tools/

It would be great as an option if we could plug in our bit.ly API key and create shortlinks on the fly

Didn't realise there was a new version, any chance of a auto updater (maybe that's not possible).

Excellent tool, I use it all the time.

Could someone from buy.at let us know if this feature is in the pipeline or even being considered please?

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for your interest in this tool.

I don't believe any updates are planned at the moment; but I will make sure your post is flagged to our development team.

    Many thanks,

I really dont understand the logic of not updating this to work with the latest versions of Firefox? You guys are really going to lose a lot of clicks for your merchants, you obvisouly created this to make life easier for affiliates? If you cant be bothered to update maybe I wont be bothered to promote your merchants anymore and switch to an affiliate scheme that does offer support and updates for its members?

    Hi Snowy,

Apologies for the frustration this is causing you. With the migration of the buy.at clients to our sister network Affiliate Window over the coming months then our dev teams have been working to ensure that the Affiliate Window generators are all up to date, so this shouldn't be a problem in the future.

For more information on this please see: Digital Window announce unified solution for the performance channel

In the meantime if you have any buy.at clients that you would like help creating deeplinks for then do get in touch using the details below.

    Many thanks,

    Roz

I don't know if it's something I did. But last time I updated Firefox, I had to update re-instate the AWIN plugin, I used the link on AWIN, I am UK based, it took me to a German Firefox page. Soon after this, I had a Trojan attached to Firefox. The only way I could get rid of it was by deleting Firefox. I am now using IE 9. What a joke, it's doing my head in, it jumps about all over the place.
Can anyone shed any light on this. Or am I just rambling?

    Hi energyadvise,

Apologies for the trouble you have experienced with the FireAW deeplink plugin.

I would like to clarify that, if you download the plugin from the Firefox website (link below) then you should not have any virus related problems. I suspect that your PC is/was infected with a virus before installation of the plugin.

Other affiliates, and Awin staff, including myself, are using the plugin from the following Firefox addon page: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...window-deepli/

Could you PM me the exact link you used from the AWIN interface please?

    Thanks,
    Barinder
    AW
