Well, we'll have to disagree on that one. I can't think of many merchants who''l give me an exclusive £75 gift voucher and let me brand bid as well?

almost makes me feel sorry for the other affiliate in the closed brand bidding group - may as well not bother

Just to clarify, I was referring to deduplication as the thing that most merchants do, not the giving brand bidding rights and an exclusive voucher to one affiliate and then manually deduping them. I do think that that creates a very difficult commercial environment.

I'm not going to respond to all of the comments here as I feel that some of this is related to our strategy which I'm not comfortable posting about on an open forum. I am, as always, prepared to discuss this with anyone on a one-to-one basis. Please see my earlier post for contact details.

A few things I can add though. We are expecting to be able to move to the de-dupe at source structure this coming Friday. This is in reaction to affiliates requests and we have been working hard to ensure the change will have no negative impact and so we can still retain a view of the path to sale across channels which I think is vital.

In terms of the voucher, I don't know many merchants that do not offer exclusive codes / commissions / promotions to affiliates. This is not new and has always been in affiliate marketing. I also think there is an strong argument to say that an affiliate will convert this type of targetted traffic more effectively than we can directly, but this is something we are testing. I'm open to discussing opportunities for all affiliates on this basis, please do contact us directly or your network.

    Regards
    Helen

and another 2 cancelled with 2 still pending which no doubt will be cancelled also. Beggars belief really.

I suppose the one advantage of going to deduping at source is that debacle will be hidden from now on.
