From 20 declined Comet sales, 19 are 'Not last referer'. Have not experienced the same decline rate from any other retailer, and no 'Not last referer' from other similar stores either such as Dixons, Currys etc

Anyone else experienced anything similar to this. Might just pull Comet and try and focus more on other home appliance retailers, don't like this 'Not last referer' thing very much, most clicks and then transaction action is within a few minutes of one another, then validated by Comet later on, but then getting this at later dates!

Comet has always been a wrong 'un as you have seen on the other thread you posted on from 2006. I bet you can't find a post in-between saying anything good about them.

Comet is up for sale so the chances of them suddenly improving are slim to none. Chances of getting worse are very high I'd say.

    Hi ReviewSaver

When a merchant declines a sale we ask that they state the reason for this. Where many retailers de-dupe against their other online channels at source, some have to do this during the affiliate commission validation process. Where they chose 'not last referrer' this means that the sale was attributed to another channel eg) their email marketing. In this example, this essentially means that their email activity was the 'last click'.

    Hope that helps.

    Kind regards
    Rachel

    Hi Review Saver,

It's worth reviewing the lag time between click and transaction as this can give you a useful insight into the timeframe that a user may have been marketed to by another source.

Anything longer than 15-20 minutes certainly gives an opportunity for a merchant's own Paid Search to be the last referrer (as well as other channels that they de-dupe against) and so on this basis I recommend further analysis into your own stats.

Not really edwyn, I understand the whole person goes off to do something else after click scenario, whether this be by comets own marketing or another affiliate, and the sale is lost. Just not liking the numbers that it is happening for with this retailer in relation to X number of other retailers. Why are Comet not converting into a sale when visitor hits their page, why are they then leaving (so often)!

    Conversion Rates
    4.71% amazon
    4.41% dixons
    2.91% currys
    1.42% comet

    Hi,

I'm going to take a look at your declined sales individually so that you will have more visibility on what your sales are being de-duped against.

Please also note on the Comet programme that all links must be created using the deeplink generator or product feed to ensure all elements of the Comet tracking are included as this is used to determine the last referrer.

If you have any further questions or if anyone else would like more information on what sales are being de-duped against please feel free to contact me directly at chris.campbell@affiliatewindow.com

    Thanks
