I would be very interested to hear the forums views on this situation.

My partner who has learnt html, designed, built and marketed her own dating directory is quite upset at the recent departure of Godate.me.uk from AW as announced by them in an email.

Nothing wrong with a company deciding that a particular affiliate program isn't working for them and leaving but........when they do, you'd think they could pay the understanding commissions they owe and honour the hard work and effort some affiliates go to, to promote them.

She isn't a member of this forum and didn't want to take this up with Godate.me.uk directly, as I suggested she should. Typically she'd rather just let it go. I, on the other hand, have an invested interest in AW, dating, paying my affiliates, and her.

I would like to hear if any other affiliates who have had their commissions rejected by Godate.me.uk. Then, if I get enough response it might encourage my partner to seek the compensation she deserves and at the very least the commissions she's owed.

of at least one other dating directory that has substantial rejected godateme commissions. It appears that they simply rejected any pending commissions once the programme closure was announced.

I don't really know that much about affiliate marketing...but it strikes me as rather short sighted...I know anyone who gets 'stung' in that way by poor merchant behaviour will never promote that merchant again.

I'm sure talksafer wouldn't do that, and nor would our sites...as the market matures hopefully economic forces will play to us and ensure we win over the merchants who act in an unprofessional way

It's very sad to hear about situations like this where merchants decide not to pay affiliates, especially when you've invested your time and money. Without being disrespectful to you or any other reputable merchant, we wouldn't touch any merchant at affiliate window with a barge poll. Why? Most "WANNABE" merchants can't even afford a McDonalds not to talk about paying affiliates. Many newbie's promise generous commission, 3 tier payment and bonuses. But as soon as you hit the target you'll see a pile of rejected commissions fly in fast. As a rule of thumb "If the merchants anit got no name they aint worth our pain." It's a know fact that short of cash companies join AW because they can't afford better.

Talking from personal experience, we too experienced unscrupulous behaviour (THEFT) from affiliate window merchants, mainly in the finance industry, also numerous tracking problems. Don't bother asking affiliate window for help because they'll simply say "refer your question to the merchant concerned." Great affiliate support & NO compensation fund set up for affiliates. I doubt very much that your company has paid a deposit to AW for affiliates incase you decide to do a runner in future.

If your wife is seriously interested in earning dosh without getting ripped off the first thing she needs to do is change networks! If you're short of cash and need to develop an affiliate network that's fine - use AW to promote your products, but don't use them to promote other merchants - as you can see, you wont make any cash. Ukaffiliates.com and tradedoubler.co.uk don't just care about collecting a monthly maintenance fee; we earn £1000s of pounds every month with these 2 networks.

A low level domain name such as godate.me.uk "God Ate me??" should have been a danger sign in the beginning. If you lye with dogs you get flees, now you've experienced the harsh reality that many affiliates have forgone - learn from your mistakes and move on. At the same time call "God Ate me" and give them a mouthful, your pennies make your millions - and in some cases other peoples millions.
