I am using the buy.at PHP5 SDK to access their API. Been having a bit of a play, and have a few questions.
We are going to be using the API to create a price comparison of certain Video Games, and when searching for games I seem to be getting a lot of spurious results.
Example if I search 'battlefield 3' I get all sorts of results ranging from music, to books and SKY TV STB's. So I have filtered it down to just search for video games using the level1CategoryId field, and do the same again with level2CategoryId to specify by platform.
However, searching 'battlefield 3', under video games (id - 39) and PC games (id - 663), still comes up with a lot of useless results. I set it to 20 results, and get 16 results that are not even battlefield 3, I get a lot of battlefield 2 / 1942 / 2142 etc, plus out of the 4 battlefield 3 results, 2 are the ltd edition, and 1 is the new expansion.
So out of 20 results, only 1 is actually useful to me, and having a price comparison site with only 1 price and nothing to compare it with is far from ideal.
I am already sorting the search by relevance, so is there any actual way to make the search stricter or improve the automation of the results? We have a database of 10,000 games spread across all platforms, so doing any manual checking / cleanup of the affiliate links is simply not feasible.
Another thing, the buy.at prices do not seem to be too up to date either. I have clicked through onto a couple of the affiliate links and ended up on the suppliers website, and the price on there was completely different to the one on the feed.
