Does anyone have a feeling for whether the click through reports for Awin are always accurate?

I put up a new site about two months ago, and I felt that the number of reported clicks in the first 4 to 6 weeks was a bit on the high side for a site newly indexed in Google.

I did wonder at the time how affiliate links react to visits by search engine spiders but didn't come up with any concrete thoughts on the subject.

Anyone else have any similar experiences / thoughts?

    Hi Kirsty,
If you contact support via the primary support line we can answer these questions for you. I can assure you that the traffic reports are accurate and you have many affiliates sending you traffic. The googlebot will look at the awin1.com link which will not have any effect on your search engine positioning.

    Hope this helps

On the topic of click reports I've had 304 clicks to specific products on Petplanet (for Dec) and no sales, not that I'm complaining, just thought it was rather odd seen as other merchants have had less clicks and more sales!?!
    Is there any explanation?

    That's a toughie Matt,

I've actually been chatting to Awin support on this very issue this morning as I'm rather concerned that Petplanet isn't converting as well on Awin as we do on the other networks.

I'm going to do some test sales this week to make sure all is OK with the tracking (although we've no reason to think there's a problem).

I think I'm going to have to be two different identities on this forum. I made this post as an affiliate and now I'm having to answer it as a merchant!

The upside is, I could answer my own posts......

Best to have 2 ID's when your in your position, I do however I sometimes forget to change the ID's for the right post and add to this I sometimes post as a Mod on a subject.. it can all get very confusing.. sure some people think the forum has 2 Clarke's

By the way on the subject of do some networks count visits from spiders.. yes they do, do AWIN do it.. I have no idea as never looked in to it. Also people copying your site often increase number of click thoughts to crazy levels but again it all comes down to do you see All Clicks, UV’s only or any of the 2 with the search bots removed.

Best resurrect Elonii then, must admit I did wonder if it was ok to be "two" people as there are some obvious areas of conflict!

It's fine to have 2 if you are open about it.. We do get a few characters that signup under different names to promote something but we deal with them by public shame
