Has anyone else received this?

Dear Chris,

We have been conducting some internet searches recently with a view to establishing how our affiliates are helping us to market our site effectively.

Whilst performing these searches, we came across your Affiliate ID which is using Google Adwords and the search terms ‘Jason Shankey’.

This is not a practice which merchants condone since it does not specifically target products on our site for the benefit of the buying public. It is not what an affiliate scheme is designed for. It is simply an easy way for affiliates to benefit from the hard work we’re doing to build our brand name.

Because of the significant amounts of money which has been wasted due to this practice, all 6 affiliates will be immediately suspended from our affiliate scheme until the Google Adwords terms ‘Jason Shankey’ are removed.

Please let me know by reply when you have made these changes.

Just for the record, I do not promote ANY merchant via google adwords, just my very own sites. I have also searched using 'Jason Shankey' in Google, and although there are Affiliates advertising under this search term, my Aff# isn't one of them!

Have emailed asking them to 'reinvestigate' and to call me - but thought would warn others incase they also get similar accusations.

I wonder if it has been sent to everyone by accident? This does seems to happen from time to time with AW's system, merchants seem to be sending out emails to everyone that they only meant to send to one person.

Yeah I reckon it's one of those Email Everyone errors - suspect they will be getting more than 6 replies - of which 99% will be grumpy ones - lol

If they thought affiliates bidding on their brand name was costing them then theyve now found something even more expensive - affilaite badwill - very expensive to fix

Me too with grumpy email back (no-one seems to be bidding on just Shankey ... hmm )

The default reply address was postmaster@affiliatewindow.com so they may be getting a few of the responses.

Dear Chris,

Having just had 500 responses from an email I sent to just 6 affiliates, I have realised that there is a major problem with Affiliate Window's email system.

Please disregard the email from us.

The email was only sent to affiliates 41967, 12014, 38226, 13994, 41820 and 5851. No other affiliate should have received this email.

Please accept my sincere apologies for this error and I will bring the matter up with Affiliate Window as a matter of urgency.

Once again, unless you are one of the affiliates mentioned above, please disregard the previous email and be assured that we very much appreciate your continued support of our website.

At least they had the courtesy to apologise, even though their original email could have been worded better for the few it affects.

It's a good program...just looked in their program details...wasn t any info on ppc restrictions. So for those affected few, they can't be psychic.

Also not right to publish their aff id to whole database too.
