Just received this from Dominos Pizza

    Hi,

Due to unforeseen difficulties, the suspension of Domino’s Pizza has now been extended a further 3 weeks. This means that the program will not re-launch until Monday 10th July 2006.

We realise, that this is a very important time of year for Domino’s, but request that affiliates remove ALL listings until the program has re-launched as commission will not be paid for these three weeks.

We apologise, for the delay in the programs re-launch and hope you will continue to promote the program once it is up and running.

    Thanks for your continued support.

    ----

So, the programme just happens to come back live just as the World Cup finishes - still not to worry eh, it's not like anyone orders pizza during the World Cup is it

And I'm sure we all believe guys that you'd choose your peak time of the year to redevelop your website - by golly look there's the Emperor and if I'm not mistaken he's refreshed his wardrobe!!

And even if the above were true, your website seems to be working fine, so, oh, it will only be the affiliate tracking you can't get working then?!?!?
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.

If ignorance is bliss then some of the people I know must be orgasmic.

I'm 100% with you on this one Keith.

The Dominos site has not changed from it's previous look. So I think the World Cup is the only factor on this one.

Aye.. with you on that one...

gone are the very early days when merchants/networks/ had any chance of convincing us tracking code was actually some mystical, secret high tech system developed in the lockheed skunkworks funded by the CIA

it's a no brainer... and as transparent as the reason behind the "unforseen problems"

if they want to pull at the busiest time then that's their prerogative but it's the aff's prerogative not to put them back on after too

Its perfectly normal to expect these 'unforseen circumstances' during June every 2 years. Bring on the Euro 2008 excuses.

I think you're all cynical and the tracking being down for the 5 weeks of the World Cup is nothing but pure coincidence

I've never understood why merchants do this? Surely the increase in turnover more than compensates for the increase in commissions payable? Or am I missing something?

good post shane, agree with everything you've said.

after 4 months of discussion (very slow replies on their part) i'm now having to take legal action against a network to recover a 4-figure sum that they owe me after they told me a tier worked one way and then 6 weeks later said whoops, no, sorry, we made a mistake so we aren't paying you what we told you we would - our mistake but never mind eh?... er, no, i will mind if that's ok.

getting back on topic, the dominos situation is a joke.

I'd guess they would be thinking that they have already paid for the traffic via TV advertising, and don't want to pay again for affiliate commission.

People really should be asking the agency behind all this and not the networks.

Does anyone from Quantum care to make a posting?

After all, the Dominos programme has been so sucessful (according to their site), that I'm sure someone from the agency must pick up this thread soon!

It must be something in the spelling of "Football Fanatic Pizza" which throws off the tracking script. Or maybe the servers can't cope with Michael Owen's cheesy grin.

Does Owen actually eat pizza from Domino's anyway? There is something very dubious about some of the food products these stars promote, but I guess that's another discussion.

Do any of the other pizza companies have programmes?

    Hi Guys,

    Thanks for your posts.

I understand your frustrations, especially at this time of year!

The Domino’s program was initially suspended because Domino’s are making technical changes to their site – not to the way it looks but the way it works behind the scenes. During this period we would not be able to guarantee the site would be running at all times, it could be down, not taking payment or the tag could be removed. In order to protect affiliates, we requested the campaign be suspended until this was resolved and that all affiliates should remove their links.

Unfortunately, the technical work has gone on longer that anticipated, hence the suspension has been extended. If all affiliates, could remove links until this time, it would be appreciated.

I would like to apologise for the delay in the re-launch and would ask you to bear with us a bit longer!

    Thanks
