    Dear Affiliates

We have put our heads together at LX to come up with a more tantalizing commission structure, see below for details:

    LX Direct Commission Increase
As of the 1st of October lxdirect has set out a new commission structure!! We have designed our new tiers to be even more achievable so get ready for some soaring commission levels!!
Sales Amount Commission Increase above 4.5% Actual
    Tier 1: £1,250 - 4.75%
    Tier 2: £2,500 - 5.00%
    Tier 3: £5,000 - 5.50%
    Tier 4: £10,000 - 6.00%
    Tier 5: £15,000 - 7.00%
    Tier 6: £20,000 - 8.00%

The above commission tiers are based on meeting the above sales value within a month.

    Commission Bonuses!!

In addition to the new commission scale, Lxdirect will also be introducing bonus commission rewards. We will now offer you a bonus of £3.00 per new credit starter and 50p per new cash starter as of 1st October!!

Any questions on the above, please don't hesitate to ask!

    Kind regards

    James

    Hi James,

Thanks for the commission increase. Should hopefully boost the xmas beer fund coffers nicely for me. Is there any chance that these tiers will be staying in post xmas. With any luck I should be able to hit the top tier for you continually going into 2007.

If you need to contact me to discuss please do so.

    Regards

    Mike

    James Wrightson,

When are you going to change the recurring event to YES (Unlimited)

Currently it's NO & thus of little interest

    Hi QGJ

I do appreciate that this would be a very attractive affiliate offer, however our affiliate program has been put together as a recruitment tool and as such unlimited recurrences would not contribute to our over all goal.

I do feel however that if yourself (or anyone else for that matter), would like to approach us with a unique (and cost effective) retention strategy that you believe would be mutually beneficial, we would be very happy to have a b2b meeting about it.

Thank you for your interest in this post.

    Kind regards

James... erm, what exactly does the above mean - it's bit marketing babble-ish?

QGJ is simply requesting that affiliates earn for all sales generated during the cookie period and not just one and one alone. If a customer buys a Sony PSP for little Johnny for Xmas (sale 1) the affiliate earns, if the customer then decides that little Jenny would quite like Barbie's Strewth Mate BBQ set and makes another sale (sale 2) either straight after or in the cookie period, without overwriting the cookie, then the affiliate gets the sale.

I'm unclear why that's not on offer from you guys - Argos for example offer "Unlimited Action Referral Occurrences".

    Hi James,

I was wondering do you actually know what a "recurring event " or "action referral occurrence " is? And when set to unlimited, what it actually means?

Forgive me if I am wrong, I do live to learn, but here goes:

Occurance, the amount of times a single customer can make an order within a set cookie duration.

I see that the higher the ocurrences the more cost incurred from our side for the same customer. It is questionable (as in loquax's post) that a customer may actually come back through an affiliate route, but they may also be brought back through our own retention program, as such we would be paying affiliates on top of our own retention costs.
Being that our affiliate channel is designed for recruitment we cannot justify repaying for the same customer (beleive me we have thought about it)

Again Correct me if I am wrong, but Argos only offer 2% commission, we offer up to 8% per sale. - The reason for our £3 new starter bonus is to reward based on our own recruitment KPI.

We really want to get the most out of our program; as I said in my last post if you have any business pitch for us to start a unique retention program with yourself, I will definately be happy to discuss it. - Really, please do!!

    Loquax, sorry for the babble.

    Cheers

    True

Can you clarify this for me though... if I send a user to LXDirect and they buy something today - ok that generates the sale.

What happens if that same user 3 months/6 months down the line, follows my affiliate link and makes another purchase?

Does that generate a sale for the affiliate or as you already have them as a customer, does it mean the sale doesn't generate commission?

You say "it's questionable" that a customer may actually come back through an affiliate route - however it is possible.

I will reply to the above more fully later. But re other programs & commission levels, I think in almost every channel merchants with at least comparible commissions could be found with unlimited recurring events.

But wanted to ask a quick question .. If an affiliate sends a visitor & they are an existing registered customer .. what is the score then?

P.S. oops just seen Loquax's post & asks the same.

    QGJ & Loquax

Don't get me wrong, we still pay for a repeat customer, we don't take the commission off or anything, we just couldn't justify paying for the same customer more than once within our cookie duration. - I'm not looking to skimp, really i'm not, I just have my drivers as you guys have yours.

    - On the whole, Loquax, QGJ, I know you guys are both heavy hitters in the affiliate world, I really want to work with you both!!

    Cheers

    James,

Just wanted to bring up something with regard to your ppc restrictions on another network.

On Tradedoubler there is conflicting information. It's something we have pointed out to them on a vast number of programs for various programs this year through lengthy calls & emails & spreadsheets, but their attitude imho stinks & done little to address.

We realise you have a ppc restriction but affiliates may source information in different areas of the site. For example in the program list it says you have an "OPEN" keyword policy where it's only the information page this is covered in more detail. You may want to tell them to change this because they are not listening to affiliates.

Yes there are several aspects of that search policy we wouldn't agree with like sub domain or company name in ad title, but that can be discussed at another time.

But you should make sure your search policy message is consistant & replicated across all networks you deal with, which it currently isn't.

P.S. Pool currently 33 degrees & Looking for Cheap Baubles for the Christmas Tree.

    Hi QGJ

This is actually something I have addressed with TD previously, to be honest I thought they'd sorted it out.

I will go back to them re the issue, cheers for the heads up!
