    Nice programme

Only negatives I can see are

    a) session cookie - though I appreciate that in this kind of programme that is less of an issue
    b) this bit - If one of your site’s visitors have quoted from COMPAREtheMARKET via a different source in the last 90 days, no commission will be paid - that seems a bit unfair to me and goes against the usual 'last cookie wins' method of working.
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.

If ignorance is bliss then some of the people I know must be orgasmic.

"90 days, no commission will be paid" and a session cookie and £1.20 a quote

Bearing in mind car insurance can be around £5 to £7ish a CLICK on overture (the top 6 bidders on car insurance are currently all over £6 a CLICK today) I think it shows just how painfully low £1.20 per QUOTE is, and then to place session restrictions and 90 days on that is mindblowing, are they just expecting poor quality bargain basement affiliate traffic from the unwary ?

admittedly a car insurance sale isn't cheap for a mechant to aquire and whilst I know the conversion isn't immense from click to sale I really don't see how £1.20 a quote can be pushed with any enthusiasm by anyone remotely experienced in the car insurance sector.

Even at a daydream rate of 50% click to quote rate it's only 60p EPC ... at 25% it's 30p EPC and at 15% click to quote it's 18p epc for car insurance traffic... anyone with seo or ppc traffic in that's getting quality traffic isn't going to let it go for that kind of rate

sorry to be negative but for the benefit of affiliates, the network and the success of the merchant via an affiliate route then £1.20 a quote needs a SERIOUS uplift.

    An from me too.
Don't do any insurance traffic, but the figures you get elsewhere and the ppc bids suggest that this is peanuts.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the feedback so far, merchant response below:

As a new member of buy.at, COMPAREtheMARKET is keen to get initial feedback from all of its affiliates on all aspects of the program. Thanks to those above who already have done so, I hope that our explanation on our 90 day rule will help clear up any confusion.

COMPAREtheMARKET attributes the quote made on your site to you for 90 days because this is how long our system currently recognises the quote to be valid for. This allows you to get a re-quote after the 90 day period, meaning that you can benefit from a visitor coming to your site and quoting again.

Because COMPAREtheMARKET has just been launched with buy.at, we have tried to make things as clear as possible on our program page. If anything is unclear please ask and then we can look to update this for all of our affiliate's benefit. As a new program it is necessary for us to continually look to improve, and the best way to do this is by listening to your thoughts.

At the moment, the programme is currently converting at over 28%, which hopefully you will all agree is excellent for a new program!

    Thank you,

    COMPAREtheMARKET Team

Sorry Sarah - commission is way too low, I wouldn't push a car insurance program for less than £1 EPC (and to accept that would be, well, a very difficult one!). They're looking for cheap traffic, IMO and what with the restrictions outlined above, it's a definate no, no from me too.
    Cheers, Darren

"the programme is currently converting at over 28%"

so umm 33.6p per click epc .. doesn't really stack up against the no restrictions £6.01 a click on overture today of which I could make over £3 per click via an overture feed.

if my fingers and toes add up right that's 8.9 times higher epc or a whopping 890% ROI for me over sending it to comparethemarket with no restrictions at all and the chance of another click or two elsewhere on my feed as a bonus.

they should be ecstatic to get car insurance traffic of any quality at that price and still that's not enough ?!? they have to 90 day and session it too ? forgive my negativity but I'm not greedy, it's more reality than greed .. I just think we are due market rates as an affiliate and every deal that comes on board like this at such derisory rates on any network just cheapens what we do, and if one merchant does it and gets away with it, it encourages others to start a downward trend in an upwardly expensive advertising market place

I think you need to pass the comments on in a very direct and focussed way, £1.20 a quote isn't going to cut it and based on this entry level I doubt what they might come back with wont come close either..

    hope so but reckon not

Do we get commission on sale of the policy? I'd be interested in that.

    Hi Mogga,

COMPAREtheMARKET only pay per quote at the moment. The benfits to affiliates are that when someone gets a quote, you get paid. No waiting for a policy to be taken, no hassle.

    Hope this helps.
