I've just installed a trail version of Panda.
It automatically deleted cookies it described as 'viruses'. These included affiliate network cookies.
So why should I promote a product, which if people use, will reduce my potential income in the future?
Hi Jeff,
Apologies for the delayed response, I had to double check this issue with one of the senior technical guys.
There are two options to avoid this scenario:
1. End-users switch off the cookie detection facility within the product, although we would not normally recommend this to our customers.
2. We can get affiliates cookies white-listed so that they are not flagged as malicious. We would therefore recommend that affiliates send us the cookies which they wish to be white-listed.
There isn't an easy solution to this because as a security vendor it is very important that we provide leading protection to our customers. Cookies do present a potential security risk, and all good antivirus products should identify these. However, cookies obviously form an integral part of affiliate marketing. As affiliate marketing is an increasingly important part of the business for us here in the UK it is equally important that we do all we can to aid affiliates.
I have escalated this issue to our headquarters and have requested that the technical team look into a better solution than point two above.
If you have any questions please get back to me.
Thanks
Matt
