Dude - glad you are going & look forward to seeing you there.
I'm not renting a tux - so I will be going for the shirt / suit thing. I'm sure they won't turn you away on the door![]()
Hi,
Can someone clarify the dress code for this event. My invite says black tie. Does that mine tuxedo and black bow tie etc or can i get away with a suit/shirt combo. Don't really fancy renting out a tux if it can be avoided, but I don't have a black suit, only a nice greyish one.
Thanks
Mike
P.S. Look forward to meeting old and new faces alike at the event.

LOL nice one. Glad you're going too mate. Will be good to catch up. Seems as though a few things have changed for you since we spoke and met last november.
You'll also get a chance to meet the missus as I am dragging her out for her first ever affiliate event. Should be interesting.....
Look forward to seeing you on thursday.
Mike
Hi,
Official dress code is black tie - I've dusted down my tux and bow tie...

Please someone delete this thread - I've told QGJ that the dress code is black tie, don't let him know that some people will be wearing a suit and tie! He doesn't do dressing up and is normally in his affiliate attire of trackie bottoms and t-shirt, makes a change to see him James Bond'ish.

xx
James - we're incredibly tight on numbers - as of last week we were full but have rejigged a few places.
I'll get back to you as soon as I know about any additional places.

The people at AW are going to great efforts and expense to lay on this event, the dress code states " Black Tie".
I am shocked that invitees cannot be bothered to go out and hire one. I have never been to a "Black Tie" event where everybody was not adherring to the dress code.
I also think it relects badly on "affiliates" as a group not to make the effort.
Cheers Sean
Having just popped into my local Moss Bros Hire shop, I have managed to buy a tuxedo, shirt and bow tie for 150GBP. I figuered it would come in handy at other times, and it was 50GBP to rent so it's not that much difference. Company expense and all that. So you will definitely see me in a tux on thursday.
Thanks
Mike
For me it's not the fact that of being bothered or not - it's the fact that i'm on the large side and i've only ever worn a tux twice - once on my wedding and once for an events night.
I'll still be wearing a black suit with a black tie attached, but a dicky bow looks awful on me and I don't fancy the chance of looking that stupid so early in the night!
