Dixons have decided to continue with their current discount codes, which will now expire on the 3rd October.
Discounts include:

10% off:
Micro HiFi Systems, Microwave Ovens, Freestanding Cookers, Rangestyle Cookers, Pay As You Go Mobiles, DECT Home Phones

5% off:
Washing Machines, Washer Dryers, Tumble Dryers, Dishwashers, Fridge Freezers, Built-In Cooking, MP3 Players (excl. Apple)

2.5% off:
Laptops, Plasma and LCD TVs, DVD Players/Recorders, Personal Video Recorders, Games Consoles, Digital Compact Cameras, Hi-Fi Surround Sound

All other commission groups are at 0.5%
With the exception of essentials, extended warranties, services and specials - 0%

Commission Groups Explained
Dixons have chosen to offer varied commission groups including certain products at 0.5% and 0%, rather than a flat commission structure.

This structure is necessary to allow Dixons to offer the highest commissions on the most popular products such as TVs, Computers and White Goods. As these tend to be the products with the highest basket values; combined with the high commission levels it gives affiliates great earning potential for pushing specific products. It also allows Dixons to offer monthly incentives to push the most popular ranges.

The resources required to offer these deals needs to come from elsewhere and in this case it is the lower value, lower margin products. This means a number of products on 0.5% and some on 0%. However, we hope that the overall commission structure allows for a higher earnings potential across all affiliate types.

This bit made me laugh out loud - since when have extended warranties been low margin

The same is true for things like cables - DSG (and other high street stores) markup on these products is often 400% plus - if that's low margin I'd hate to see what they think a high margin is.

Take one example
PC LINE USB A-B CABLE USB1.8M £14.99

Even without Dixons buying power, I could buy these wholesale for 46p each - erm I make that £14.53 profit (or 96% profit) - yeah I see what you mean - no room for affiliate commissions there...........

The discount codes are very welcome and the overall programme is good but come on guys, play the game, there is plenty of margin on cables and accessories and you know it - so start paying commission on them.

Dixons appreciate where you’re coming from, but ultimately the question is not so much about the percentage profit on a product but the profit value. A TV might have a smaller margin, but that profit could be worth the same as selling several cables.

The sale of TVs outstrips that of cables because a cable only tends to be purchased when required, whilst a TV is far more aspirational, with individuals making impulse purchases or deciding upgrade their current sets.

Affiliates can therefore earn a far greater amount promoting the TVs over the cables, especially with the higher commission in place. For example, increasing the commission level from 2.5% to 3.5% will bring an extra £10 commission on the sale of a £1,000 TV.

Dixons are combining this with further discounts codes for the consumer, thereby increasing conversion, as well further commission increases from time to time.

Overall Dixons hope that this structure gives affiliates a far greater earning potential on their programme than a flat rate commission.
