    Always nice to get apologies...

I got the email too and it did provide a very negative impression of Woolworths attitude to affiliates...

Because i emailed a reply to James the second i got the email, i've had a reply personally from him. I won't publish it as i haven't requested permission but he's apologised and said that it was not intended for me. He also said he liked my site (thanks very much lol).

Still a little miffed about a single affiliate running the ppc campaign but the apology goes a long way to helping restore some faith.

Yes, nice to get an apology and to find someone working later than me !

The cheap brand bidders overwriting other affiliate cookies is actually a big issue for merchants imo, not just affiliates. From a merchants point of view, looking for valuable affiliates with good content to promote your program and keep promoting it is a key objective.

Surely overwriting is going to put off the very affiliates that a merchant really wants. The affiliates who really know their stuff will just use other merchants, because they know the conversion rates are affected by overwriting.

None of this helps the industry. In some cases, presumably the merchant could be left thinking that the affiliate marketing is not working, without realising that the reason its not working is that the 'right' affiliates didn't bother promoting the program. Perhaps this is a point that the networks can make to merchants - as it will affect total commission to affiliates and network and the effectiveness of the program. Unless I'm missing something...?

You make a valid point and it is one we will be emphasising heavily at our forthcoming meeting.

Now I've received an otherwise completely blank email from AW apparently because I'm signed up to the Woolworths programme. This is the 2nd blank email of the day from AW. The first one was on the Casio programme. Is there a training issue or an IT issue at AW?

Must admit I did have a laugh when I read this email last night and felt like responding in kind but thought better of it.

That said, it did make me wonder about the level of affiliate understanding woolworths have and also if anything will happen to the 'guilty' affiliate, assuming he/she has had all the time in the world to amend their ads and knows that they don't have a scooby what words they were appearing on. Would have thought that AW referrer logs would have picked this up easy though.

Surely a blank one is better than the previous one .

Sorry about this but we were having some issues with the email system. Our developers have informed me this has now been fixed so you shouldn't receive any more blank ones.
