John Lewis Direct, the website and catalogue business of the John Lewis Partnership, announced Monday that it is to end the John Lewis affiliate programme via the Buy.at affiliate network, effective August 18 2008. The affiliate programme will continue to be open and managed by their two affiliate networks; Affiliate Window and TradeDoubler.

Those affiliates currently working with John Lewis Direct via buy.at are asked to apply to become an affiliate via Affiliate Window or TradeDoubler.

I don't think that I've ever seen a notice from a merchant that they're leaving Buy.at - it's normally the other way around; leaving another network to join Buy.at

John Lewis won't have taken this decision to move / leave lightly - I wonder what prompted it.
