    As a beginner,

If I have a domain name which redirects to free webspace,

    For Example: whatever.freeserve.co.uk,

Will I still be able to earn commision from Affiliate Window or not?

Some people would doubt whether you can earn commission from AW whatever kind of site you have. I'm starting to like them though, September was my best ever month by a long way.

I don't see why you can't use free hosting with any affiliate program, unless Awin/CJ/TD/UKA etc have any specific rules about it.

The problem with free webhosting is that it's often slow and unreliable, and if you change ISP you'll lose the site (and any search engine listings you may have). Even if your site is just a hobby and you're not expecting to make much money from it it's worth paying for a domain name and proper hosting, even if it's just a £20 a year cheapy.

You can buy a domain name from doteasy.com ($25 for a .com i think) and get free hosting for the life of the domain. OK it's not the most reliable hosting in the world, but it's not bad and way better than a free site at freeserve or whatever. (yourdomain.com looks much more professional and is easier to remember).

One of the biggest mistakes I made when i first started was to have a free site on fortunecity - when they found out I had affiliate links (to amazon) they took it down without warning for violating their terms and conditions and I had to start all over again. I had even managed to get a free listing in Yahoo! so i was well pissed off when all my traffic disappeared overnight, even though I earnt very little i had put months of work into the site and had not made a backup copy - doh!!

You can get free (really free) hosting from portland.co.uk - although it's better if you're reasonably experienced as there's no support or helpdesk.

The problem with Portland is you get hardly any bandwidth, it's something like 100MB a month, unless they've changed their policy in the last year or so.

So in this case, would he register the domain name he has with the networks, or the free hosting address it points to?

I realise it makes no difference for AWIN or DGM, but would it with TD?

With TD the domain of the page with the link on it has to be registered, so if the pages were hosted by yoursite.freeserve.com for example, that site would have to be registered with TD.
Safest thing to do is to register all possible sites on your TD account.
