John - yes that is too simplistic and only part of the reason, to detail all would make a long and boring post, suffice to say that we did look long and hard at the cost and results and decided that it was impossible to get sufficient affiliates to switch allegiance from merchants they had been promoting for a long time.
The Gift market is only a small one in total retail terms and there are only a limited number of sales to go round, with too many merchants entering each year because they think it's an easy business.
I had decided to quit the affiliate area completely and wait for the inevitable cull of competitors this year (which looks like it will be sooner than you may think) before considering affiliates again, the reaction from those that did back us has been sufficient to persuade me to operate a small inexpensive program instead and review the situation the same time next year.

Hi John, I've sent you an email expressing interest in your smaller, private program. I'm sure you're aware already, but there are some pretty good scripts out there, such as Post Affiliate Pro 4 Homepage which I know fairly large companies, such as Toluna, use for their own programs.

Thanks Mark, you beat me to it.

To all those that have expressed an interest in a private program, rest assured we are working on it but time is a bit short at the moment, we are running at over 50% up on last January and it doesn't show signs of slowing up.

I am hoping to get a program working and tested by the end of next week and will contact everyone that have already contacted us at the same time as announcing the details on the forum.

    Cheers, John

Just a quick update, our own private program is now up and running and our Affiliate Window program closes tomorrow at close of day's orders, effectively 3pm at which time all tracking will be removed.

Our private program will pay a beginning flat rate of 15% and you can sign up at Prezziesplus Program
I will contact all those tomorrow that have expressed an interest in joining our private program for now I've had enough and am going to open the wine.

Incidentally, Slankets are still flying out, thanks to the weather, we have plenty of stock, so keep pushing them!!:tup

We can provide a product feed either to download from our server or auto send an updated feed every day to a destination of your choice, probably identical to the format we have been supplying to AW.

I will post an announcement of the new private program later today somewhere more appropriate than this thread/forum and will ask for all suggestions and requests from everyone.

It would appear that we and AW have different ideas about when the Prezziesplus program was to end, the date was agreed as 9th February, I took it as close of business 9th February, AW took it as opening of business 9th February and therefore have already turned off the program.
All commissions up to AW turning off the program have been authorised and our own private program is up and running, to avoid loss of sales please sign up at PrezziesPlus Program as soon as you can and get your new tracking links.
Commission has been set at 15% and the only difference I can see in the tracking is that when a customer is referred by an affiliate, any sale within the cookie period (30 days) is assigned to the 1st referring affiliate and cannot be overwritten by a further cookie until expiry of the first, seems to solve the problem of Voucher code directories pinching sales but we are still not going to issue codes!!

I would be interested to know other peoples views on this method.

Not sure this is the best solution... a potential customer may go to Site A, click through - not buy... 3 weeks later they decide to buy something else and head through Site B - who presell an alternative item... they buy... Site A gets the sale... why?

As it's a private program you can figure it out with those who sign up, but it's not something I'd be happy with or see implemented... it may solve the "voucher code" issue, but it creates a lot more issues imo.

    good luck with it

Yeah, I have to agree with Jason, this can create a string of problems - cookie stuffing can be a big big problem (much bigger than voucher sites!). Could still work but you need to keep a very close eye on your affiliates.

I see your points on this, it's only a few hours into the program and it's not written in stone and I can change it, any other opinions out there?

I'm trying to change over all the deep links and all I get is an error

The affiliate program you're trying to access (or use) is not available. The account has either been terminated or suspended.
I'm trying the deeplink as the following (example)

    Is this correct?

    I'm confused

No more confused than me, it would appear that the link creator does not work and I am trying to find out why, everything else was tested and typically the link creator was not.

This has been a disastrous start to the program and I am doing all I can to make it work, now that this fault has been made public I hope that those affiliates already signed up will bear with us whilst we get the thing sorted, if we cannot get a fix by close today we will have to consider ditching the software and starting over again.

If anyone has any other problems please email me direct at john@prezziesplus.co.uk

It would seem that this is not the same problem, this link appears to have been constructed manually and should be http://www.idevaffiliate.com/31274/p...d-warmers.html this works fine
