AW clickrefs - The Merchant's View

A quick question for any merchants on AffiliateWindow. Do you see the affiliate's own "clickref"s on your approve/reject commission screen? Or is this reference private to the affiliate themselves.

I've been experimenting recently with clickref's and it is quite interesting to know exactly what item was bought!

However, I've had an idea that will make this even more convenient (for me) but I would like to know if the merchant can see this clickref before I make any changes

Regards,
Darren.

Hi Darren,

I don't know if they are available by some other means, but they are not visible on the commission validation screen. Hope that this helps.

Thanks for the info, Matt and Graham...

Does anyone know the maximum allowable length of the clickref parameter?

(I'm sure you can see what's coming next? )

Are you using a product database? The way I do it is I insert the row ID in the clickref then I can get back to it if I want to check up. Not quite as instant as having the full product name in the click ref, but still useful and easy to spot when one item is being sold more quickly.

Those that are using the book feed have probably noticed I put the ISBN number in the clickref for a similar reason.

Edit: some clickref sizes for other networks, dosn't include awin

I think the limit is 50. I just had a sale with an accidentally long clickref set and it was trimmed to 50 characters.

Yup the limit is 50 chars. We could increase it but i dont think its necessary, many browsers impose limits on querystring length etc anyway. If there is interest in having this increased please let me know.
