  Timing of commission payments

As an AW merchant, we currenly confirm commissions every week or so, but make absolutely certain that we confirm every pending commission just before the end of the month. We do this because our AW monthly bill is aligned to a calendar month, and we're assuming that once we get billed and pay, our affiliates get paid.

Is this in fact what happens, or do affiliates get paid as soon as we approve a commission?

This appears to be an important point because if our approval is a day late, it could mean an affiliate getting paid a month late....

Best Regards,
Christian

Christian,

When you validate a sale, the time you validate it is recorded. On (or around) the first day of the following month we total this all up and send you an invoice.

If the affiliate who was credited with that commission has earnt over £25 (for bacs payments, or £100 for cheque) during the month you validated the sale, then we pay him/her on (or around) the last day of the following month. If they havent met the threshold, then this rolls over to the next month, until they do.

for example:
If you validate a sale today (21st June 04), we'll invoice you for it on 1st July. Assuing the affiliate has reached thier £25 threshold in june then they will be paid the commission on the 30th July 04.

The next payment due to affiliates is on the 30th June 04, and will be for commissions validated during or before May 04.

Hope this helps

Hi Marc,

thanks for the clarification.

This sounds to me like the only really important commission validation is the just-before-month-end one. Of course its cool to claim "I'm doing it every day", but unless I've misunderstood, any validations prior to the last one in the month end don't really help an affiliate get paid any faster.....

Our current validation regime looks like its reasonably well aligned to how things work, so we'll stick to it for now.

Best Regards,
Christian

P.S. Barry: Thank you for your encouragement!

You are correct that it is the end of month validation which is critical (and you can imagine how infuriating it is as an affiliate to see merchants who regularly validate on the 2nd or 3rd of the month - like we don't know what you're doing guys

However as an affiliate I prefer merchants who validate at least once a week as (particularly if there is a large pending commission - and I had one recently for a merchant which was almost 100 quid yet I had to wait for three weeks to find out whether it would be validated or not) - it helps to plan my cashflow if I know which transactions I am going to be paid for.
