Basically Mankind opened up two offline stores for the first time, in Harvey Nichols in both Ireland and Manchester - I know a couple of you came down last week for a glass of champagne! This should have a good knock-on effect on the online sales. Let me know if you've got any thoughts...

The Mankind programme has been performing really well over the summer and we expect this to increase in the run up to winter.
In some exciting news, Mankind is expanding its operation to include offline activity as well! This move will really help to build the Mankind brand image as the number one male grooming retailer in the UK and should have a really positive effect on affiliate sales due the increased brand awareness this will create.

www.Mankind.co.uk is making its first move to the high street, with two concessions designed by Michael Sheridan & Company opening next month. The concessions, which will initially be based in Harvey Nichols in Manchester and Dundrum, Ireland, are precursors to a wider roll out across sites at railway stations in the UK and additional concessions locations. Mankind director Paul Jameson says the company hopes to open “at least six new sites next year” with a further six planned for 2007. Railway station sites have been chosen due to their high proportion of male users – 70 per cent according to Jameson – and will feature an open plan, kiosk style store. “It’s about providing men with places where it’s convenient for them to shop,” adds Mankind director Hilary Andrews. The website falls neatly into this category, and complements the brand well.
With the male grooming market now worth £600m a year in the UK and the premium sector worth about £23m, Mankind plans to continue growing in this niche and possibly launch a range of its own. Mankind offers premium products, with a premium level of customer service – 98% of customers who order before 4pm will have their products the next day – and qualified beauty experts answer emails with advice, and can suggest the most suitable products for each customer. With the very best products at competitive prices, Mankind generates high basket values for affiliates and one of the best conversion rates in the sector.
Commissions are 10% and cookies are 90 days long to benefit from the high of number repeat purchases that Mankind generates.
