  eSpares and Comet Spares?

A question about eSpares and (the newly launched) Comet Spares - they have different merchant ids, but they appear to be very very similar in many ways. Are they the same company? Should they be promoted as seperate entities? Are they likely to be merged (from an AW perspective) at some point? Or have I misunderstood something fairly fundamental?

Thanks,
DarrenW.

Looks like an obvious reason;

http://www.espares.co.uk/sistersites.aspx

Not sure why you'd promote a white label of eSpares tho when they launched on TD today offering twice the commission rate

eSpares operate their main programme on both Affiliate Window and TradeDoubler with the same commission rate of 8%.

The white label solution gives affiliates the opportunity to benefit from their association with a brand like Comet. The use of the brand should assist affiliates in making extra sales and as a result the commission has to be lower on these platforms.

Kind regards

Sorry Adam but I don't follow the logic on that one - if the margin is there on espares sales to pay 8% commission then surely the same margin has to be there when the site is rebadged under Comet (unless what you meant to say was that Comet take a cut for the site using their brand)

It makes no sense that because sales are easier to convert (allegedly) that the commission has to be lower

These companies approach other companies basically to just use their brand. Obviously in this case Comet want a slice of the action baby yeahhh.

Take a look at Appliance deals, thats the one that takes the micky

Appliance Deals
Boots Appliances (what the hell people would associate boots with cookers for i dont know)
Sainsburys appliances
Focus
B&Q Appliances

I am sure there is more out there too. All the same data feed, all the same prices (except the main site i believe).

Keith

Indeed Comet are taking a slice of the revenue for the use of their brand. Espares are hoping affiliates will be able to utilise that brand to generate more traffic but they are unable to offer the same rate of commission as on their main programme because of the cut Comet take. Apologies for not making this clearer in my first post.

Pricethat

The launch of the DRL programmes has been an interesting case in analysing peoples' spending habits. Each of these programmes haver their own USPs with Sainsbury's offering Nectar points, Boots offering Advantage Card points, Appliance Deals offering lower priced products and DIY Appliance Warehoue offering multi-save special offers across their product range.

Each programme does well in its own right which shows the value in providing affiliates with the option of which one to promote.

Thanks for clearing that up - I'll give both a push and see which converts best - after all at the end of the day it is EPC which matters...
