Great New Travel Client - Ideas and Opportunities

Hi there,

We have an April launch pencilled in for a huge new travel advertiser who has never run an affiliate programme before.

Because affiliate marketing is a brand new concept to them we are initially looking to keep quite tight controls over the programme and trial various methods of generating sales over the first few months prior to a more general roll out longer term.

I have some ideas that I want to explore with a few affiliates but at the same time I'm really keen to discuss potential opportunities.

Could you drop me a line if you're interested and we'll take it from there.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Kevin

As discussed previously, I'll register my interest if you change to a % model, rather than flat fee.

Why worry about this, if the programme is good, the flat fee will be reasonable.

Let's just say, for argument's sake, your average order value is £200, and the offering is £4. This works out the same as 2%. I agree, the %age is fairest, but that still takes some merchants back to the travel agent mentality. Stupid I know, but that's how they think.

What really matters is that the merchant is serious about the programme, and prepared to commit to it. If you can initially send them x bookings, and then raise it to 2x, then they should be prepared to offer higher rates - but again, if £4 went to £5, and 2% went to 2.5%, the result would still be the same.

Kevin, by all means let me know any further details, we have a small amount of space left right now (only joking on that).

Cheers

James

Gah. I am going to be pedantic. Sorry.

Is it an affiliate or a merchant?
