Affiliate Window launch ShopWindow Toolset

Today Affiliate Window launch a brand new linking method, the ShopWindow Toolset (beta).

ShopWindow Toolset provides you with product comparison functionality that can be customised and integrated within a website with minimum effort.

You can earn commission through adding ShopWindow functionality in the way that best suits your skill set and website architecture in one of three ways:

1. ShopWindow Direct – sending your web traffic to the shopwindow.com website

2. ShopWindow Client Software – integrating a fully customisable software package within your website, adding product comparison functionality

3. ShopWindow API – using our ShopWindow web-based service which allows you to develop applications based around our product data

ShopWindow Toolset will enable you to provide your users with dynamic content from our managed database of over 3 million products. Your users can search for specific products and review the results from within your website. Those users who click through to a merchant site are now more informed and more motivated to buy than ever before, increasing the likelihood of earning you a commission from their purchases.

Affiliate Window merchant product feeds have been thoroughly reviewed and mapped in recent weeks. The ShopWindow system is designed to recognise and learn behaviour patterns. This will result in your users being able to search for products more accurately and refine the results more thoroughly as each day passes.

Couple of questions

1. where can I find the technical dimensions of the templates or actually view a sample. I suspect many people would like to incorporate these in an outer wrapper with their own site etc. How do you do this?

2. By default it seems to load all merchants with your id - even ones you've not applied for or have even be rejected by - surely that shouldn't happen.

Looks good at first glance - 1000 API calls a day is a bit tight though - e.g. shopping.com API is ...

No more than 250,000 SDC API queries may be submitted per partner per day.

Thanks for the Post.

To answer your questions:

1) The dimensions of the Templates can be found within the client software CSS files. Examples of the Client Software integrated are www.shopwindow.com, or www.shoplobster.co.uk


2) In order to offer product comparison functionality, we have identified 3 new types of membership which are in play (allowing you to provide comparison through many more of our merchants than a traditional membership would allow for): Hard Memberships, Soft Memberships, and On Demand Memberships. These memberships allow you to have a relationship with all merchants providing datafeeds. However, these memberships only apply to the ShopWindow Toolset, and it is up to you who you include within your ShopWindow Toolset. Your merchants can be managed within your admin area under 'Merchant Manager' (ShopWindow Toolset Page).

All ShopWindow Documentation (for Memberships please refer to Customising ShopWindow Client Software - Presentation and Content) is available within the admin area of your account under 'ShopWindow Toolset'.

nope not really.

1. so if I include a feed for a merchant Ive been rejected by, will I get commission?

2. Without reading the documentation can you tell em whether it is possible - and easily - to include this thing in a normal website rather than linking to it. can I, for example, replace the shop window logo with my own, add my own navigation around it as a normal web page. Ive read the setup guide and it isn't in there.

3. The shop window direct does not seem to bne comparable to the content untis - are these links only or do they provide 'content units' as the content units did.

Hi Phil - 1000 calls is the quota provided for setup and testing. Once you have integrated ShopWindow within your site, we will then review your quota and increase.

Gunner,

1. This is correct but only for ShopWindow Direct. shopwindow.com offers all of our product data. Therefore, if you drive your traffic through to shopwindow.com, you will recieve commisions on all confirmed sales through all merchants. This is regardless of you not applying, or being rejected etc. This is called a Soft Membership, which is in use for all of your traffic that you drive to shopwindow.com. This is becuase there is no guarantee that your traffic will only complete actions for the merchants that you are joined to.

2. Using ShopWindow Client Software, you can add the same product functionality to your own website. In order to edit and customise the package requires basic web editing skills. As both examples provided earlier show, you can add your own logo, customise the colour scheme and layout. If you would like to add your own navigation links, you can.

3. ShopWindow Direct allows you to use the product comparison website to convert your traffic. This differs to content units as content units are static data, where the data on ShopWindow.com is dynamic, based on click data.
