I would like to express the opinion that it is confusing for customers when Currys offer discount codes for free delivery over orders £x AND discount codes for discount y for orders over £z concurrently as they are doing now with the condition that they can only use one discount code per transaction.

By offering these two types of discount codes, Currys is asking its customers to do some arithmetic to work out which discount code offers the largest discount.

Now Currys might well argue that it is the affiliates job to communicate to the customer the discounts each discount code gives but I think that it is very challenging for affiliates to display prices for both sets of discount codes for a particular product when both discount types theoretically apply to a product but the customer can only claim the one discount in practice.

My price comparison website is set up to display prices which include Currys & Dixons discount vouchers, either for free delivery for orders over £x, or for discount y for orders over £z, but it does not enable me to compare prices for the two types of discount code and it would be difficult to present two prices for the same merchant without confusing customers.

So in my opinion, while I am totally in favour of Currys offering discount vouchers because they certainly do increase conversions, I am not in favour of Currys running free delivery discount code campaigns for orders over £x concurrently with discount codes offering discounts on orders over £y.

If customers could use both types of discount code in one transaction, then there would be no problem as it would simply be a case of showing one price for Currys and communicating to the customer that they would need to use two discount voucher codes.

I have to disagree with this view. The more concurrent codes the better. Customers have different needs and some may want say a £20 discount rather than saving a few £ with free delivery. Other customers may not want the individual items that the codes relate to.

Some merchants offer a 5% discount and a £5 discount during the same time period on the same terms. You think, why not just have the one? But depending on the sale value, they both have their merits.

I agree with Befuddle, the more codes the better, but I see your point. OTOH a lot of code users enjoy the thrill of the chase and this gives them something to get their teeth into.
