  Julie Wood - A4U Awards

Because Julie Wood is the type of person she is she wouldn't dream of promoting herself to win in the 'best account manager' category so it falls for me to carry out a shameless plug for your votes.

She doesn't know I'm doing this but I thought I'd take a little time to explain a little bit about her and why I think she should win.

It can be a bit bewildering in today’s industry to keep track of who’s who at the growing number of networks, but there can be few longer standing affiliates who haven’t crossed paths at some point with Affiliate Window’s very own Julie Wood. So when we heard last week that Julie has been shortlisted for best account manager at the A4U Awards we were all obviously delighted.

Having worked at Affiliate Window for over four years, Julie has seen the network grow from a handful of employees in a dingy south-east London office to a company boasting a 75+ strong workforce in a shiny, edge of City location.

And in that time she’s been at the heart of a huge number of affiliate success stories, having previously worked on some of the highest profile campaigns on the network including Comet and Vodafone.

Julie is the longest standing member of any of the account management teams and has worked across a whole variety of accounts, always on hand to broker the latest deal or partnership for her affiliates and merchants.

She has had the pleasure of seeing some of those accounts grow from lower profile accounts to market leading campaigns. One such advertiser is I Want One of Those who Julie has worked tirelessly for over the past few years.

Head of Multi Channel Marketing, Paul Smith has little doubt about Julie’s contribution to the growth of their campaign: “she has been instrumental to the success of IWOOT’s affiliate program. Her knowledge of the industry is only outweighed by her dedication and willingness to go beyond the call of duty to ensure her merchants reach their full potential.” Indeed such was IWOOT’s satisfaction with Julie’s hard work she was the envy of the team back in January this year when she accompanied IWOOT’s Christmas affiliate incentive winners on a skiing trip to Canada, taking to the slopes for the very first time.

More recently Julie has chosen to focus on fewer merchant accounts, shifting attention to key affiliate partners such as Airmiles and Nectar. Again, under Julie’s management these accounts have grown significantly due to a combination of her tenacity and dedication. Manager of Nectar eStores, Daniel Richards has pinpointed a few other reasons why he believes she deserves her place on the shortlist: “she has been a real asset to Nectar eStores. Julie is highly motivated and very personable; always taking into account the interests of affiliates and merchants to maximise the effectiveness of the resulting partnerships.”

That Julie Wood has finally been recognised and shortlisted as best account manager in this year’s A4U Awards is only fitting after such longstanding service to the industry. If you agree and would like to see Julie take the accolade on June 5th then please remember her when you cast your votes.

Many thanks,

Re: Julie Wood - A4U Awards

Here here. I first worked with Julie when I worked at Tiny computers, and she was working for Affinity's MyTaxi some 7 or 8 years ago! We then crossed paths again when I joined Buyagift four years ago (and yes, I remember those *very* dingy offices in Deptford!).

Julie has been a fantastic account manager, being the main point of contact between ourselves and Affiliate Window. She understands every aspect of affiliate marketing, and can see points of view clearly from 'both sides of the fence'. Always coming up with great ideas for all parties, Julie's super efficient and always available at the end of the phone or on messenger, or for a quick cuppa!

Vote Julie!

Graham

Re: Julie Wood - A4U Awards

I can't put it any better than the comments previous. Here at eConversions we've had several dealings with Julie throughout the years and never have I known a more passionate and dedicated account manager.

I remember a conversation we had after last year's awards in which we spoke about Julie's lack of a nomination and the only reason we could think of was that she wasn't "mainstream" enough in that she spends a huge amount of time working and improving the accounts she works on rather than drinking at industry events (as I have been known to do on one or two occassions ), so her nomination at this year's awards is throughly deserved in my opinion.

In addition to her dedication and persistency, Julie is incredibly personable and I would challenge anybody who meets her to not like her.

For those reasons alone I would encourage people to vote for Julie, as I'm sure anybody who has had dealings with her will.

Great to see Julie getting recognised this year, I voted for her at last year's awards, see a4uAwards Ceremony 2007 - My nominations

This year I went for Graham - purely as I like to mix things up a bit and it's so very hard to choose when they are both so good.

Well done Julie! You thoroughly deserve it.

Like many of the other chaps Julie was the very first person I ever spoke to about Affiliate Marketing and I've sort of followed her round ever since.

AWIN really do rock now and in my opinion Julie is an integral part of the team!

So, well done mate - I look forward to seeing you at the awards.

Take care,

Zak.

Re: Julie Wood - A4U Awards

I agree Kev,

I met Julie when i was working back at MicroDirect about 4 or 5 yrs ago ...she held my hand while I tried to persuade the boss's that affiliates was a good idea, and taught me a whole hell of a lot about affiliate marketing in the process.

Good luck Jules ...no offence to any of the other entries of course... I just owe Julie a couple which I'm well overdue on paying back!!

Sean

P.s (has Julie seen this post yet and kicked your 4ss?)

Re: Julie Wood - A4U Awards

I was fortunate enough to go skiing with Julie back in February with iwoot - she was great company

Congrats so far Julie, best of luck

PS - I'll embarass her now - while we were attempting to learn to ski, we were often mistaken as a family, in which she was the mum, whilst Joe (Renegade) was the dad and I was the son! How's that for a bit of trivia?

Re: Julie Wood - A4U Awards

I first "met" Julie online back when she used to work for Affinity Arc (remember that network?!) and she was helpful and a good few years younger then
I first met Julie in the real world briefly on one of the affiliate boat trips down the Thames and she's always pro-active encouraging affiliates and, as I learnt when we spent some time together on our ski trip, really proactive supporting merchants too.
It was a really tough category this year but Julie got my vote because I know from personal experience she works harder then anyone I've met on behalf of her clients.
