You will notice in your affiliate accounts a new report. The Click Ref report reports to you the clicks that have occurred from the Click Refs that you are using.
Click Ref (Click Reference) is Affiliate Window's functionality for allowing an affiliate to pass a value to the affiliate link. This reference is then reported alongside any sales that the affiliate link generates.
Which of their users are generating clicks and transactions.
Which search engine keywords are generating clicks and transactions.
If you manipulate the data contained in the Click Ref report with the Commission Details report you can get some really powerful information such as the individual Click Refs that are generating clicks and how many of those clicks have resulted in transactions and then the amount of commission earned. If you combine this data with your own stats or your search engine marketing provider stats you can get an end to end picture of what your visitors are doing.
It as a basic report at the moment but something that will be built upon.
I've just had a look and it's excellent - it was great to finally see exactly which links from which websites are being clicked but not generating any sales.
To add to this may we at sometime have a keyword report too in the near future. Cheers in advance
We do report on keyword information in the Commission Details report. The problem with a keyword report is that we don't always get keyword information. If an affiliate is using a redirect or referrer info is blocked we can not report on the keyword used to drive a click/sale.
Click Ref is so much more reliable. If you pass in to all your AW affiliate links the keyword used we will report that to you in the Click Ref report. On Google AdWords you can add to Click Ref value {keyword} and on click through Google dynamically adds the search term used that triggered the ad click.
Thanks for the information. I want to reconfirm, do you meant the parameter value {keyword} to be added into the AW affiliate link NOT the adword keyword destination URL?
Secondly, if I am using other search engine than google, does this parameter work well with yahoo and msn?
also, does it work with banner with URL such as http://www.awin1.com/cread.php?s=xxxxxx&v=xxxx&q=xxxxx&r=xxxx&clickref= {keyword}
Click Ref can be used with any AW affiliate link. It is probably best to not use a banner URL within your PPC campaign. I would stick to using the default text link.
Adding {keyword} as the Click Ref will only dynamically insert the keyword when used through Google AdWords system.
I've just had a look and it's excellent - it was great to finally see exactly which links from which websites are being clicked but not generating any sales.
Sorry if I'm missing something but how do I see which websites the clicks are coming from?
All I'm seeing is a list of merchants and how many clicks are going to their site.
The report does not report which sites the clicks are coming from but just the Click Ref used on affiliate links that are driving traffic to particular merchants.
You could use a different Click Ref on each site you have and then you would be able to see in the report which of your sites the traffic is coming from.
