I had Chickenpox - AT MY AGE!!!!

It seems that my general grogginess two weeks ago was not an isolate incident but the start of a bout of Chickenpox! I thought this was only a kids virus but it seems that if you've not had it before adults can get it too. (My little sister gave it to me like a horrific present.)

Symptoms: Fever, sore throat and incredibly itchy spots all over my face and body. (I looked very wrong!)

That's why I have been on the missing list for a while. (There was a total office ban on my ass for fear of infecting our friends in the Discount Theatre call center and causing ticket sales meltdown.)

Anyway now I'm back and "Strong like Bull" we've been working on some summer Theatre offers to destroy the credit crunch........cPOW. tWAK!

Actually, in some cases people can be infected with chickenpox more than once. It isn't unheard of. Also watch out for Shingles later on.

I had chicken pox as a kid and then one bout of shingles whilst at Uni back in the early 90's - just a one inch section just below my left rib cage and it was excruciatingly painful to touch.

My grandad had shingles in a ring right around his body for two years a year or so before he died - I know slightly what he must have gone through.

Think its much better getting it young as its nowhere near as bad as a child as it is when your an adult. Thankfully I had it when I was about 8.

Dread getting shingles though as thats agony apparently, and can leave you in pain for the rest of your life!

Found it interesting with chicken pox, in that it actually adds its self to your DNA, so once you've had it it literally becomes part of you.

You poor thing. I had chickenpox in the last year and the doctor confirmed what it was. I told her I'd had it as a kid and she said that was unlikely and it's rare to have it twice.

I think thats very wise Andy, they tell me the "Incubation period" and the "Infectiousness" is over now but I've never been one to agree with intelligent and qualified people like doctors........all those qualifications make me nervous.

here's hoping you dont get shingles. its pretty nasty. a mate of mine had it last year and could barely move his arms. the scary thing is stress brings it back on and ya kinda stuck with it. i sympathise with any poor soul who gets it .
