Hello from the Lake District!

We have a number of Cumbria-based sites by virtue of where we're based, as well as a number of travel sites, but in all honesty for us to really push something like this, I'd have liked to see an increase in the % commission. 2.5% is way below what most of the others are offering - even the likes of Travelodge, who are on much narrower margins, pay significantly more.

Thank you for your query about the Macdonald Hotels commission structure.

Macdonald Hotels are paying out 2.5% commission on bookings at the 3 Lake District Hotels, however this is combined with a flat rate of £9 per booking as well.

So for a booking of £250, using the above commission structure you will receive £6.25 plus £9 – so a total of £15.25 for that booking. Which works out as a % of sale as 6.1% commission on an order of £250, which is competitive based on what other similar programs are offering.

Previously the program was running with a flat rate of 5% for each booking however as mentioned, the new structure pays out a tiered % and flat rate. This has been implemented as it means that for lower value sales you'll earn a higher rate of commission.

The £9 bonus per booking will not be added to your account until the end of the month, because of the way the Affiliate Window bonus system works.

Yes, but...

Your example is based on a booking of just £250. With a four star hotel, it's going to be easy to exceed that with even just a two-night stay. I hate to think what the % would work out as if someone stayed 4 or 5 nights...
