I use Google Analytics | Official Website for mine.
Hi all,
Just wondering what external software tracking platforms most affiliates use?
I know there are quite a few to choose from and right now stat counter is ok for me, although its not big enough and now has reached maximum enties for the amount of visitors I am getting (for the free version) so i'll have to pay to upgrade.
Are there any other good ones out there anyone can suggest that are good to use (apart from google) that have a large 'log' size, are free, give you good detailed stats and reports and infio on your visitors?
Thanks... Happy Bank holiday weekend![]()

I just use Statcounter
Google Analytics continues to get better and better. It gives you far more insight that Stat Counter IMHO. And it's completely free.
We have both statcounter and google analytics on our sites.

I agree with D-Mac, there is no definitive analytics package that is 100% accurate - for me it is a question of what do I want to monitor and which is my prefered tool for that.
The important thing with any metrics are the patterns they reveal over time so staying with the same package is probably one of the most important things. Don't compare stats from Google with AWStats, for example, because they are never going to match up.
DC Storm for Affiliates is very good:

Google analytics. Sometimes I take a look at the ones included in my cpanel. It seems most people are interested in GA when selling/buying.
There are lot of Web Analytics tools available with which you can easily track your website status. However, here are the Top 5 Web Traffic Analytics Tools which are mostly used by all bloggers.
- Google Analytics
- Bing Analytics
- Alex Analytics
- Yahoo Web Analytics
- Piwik Web Analytics:
Definitely stick with Google Analytics. It is free and the more expensive solutions don't add enough to justify spending the money.
I have used Google Analytics, Webtrends, Omniture, Hitslink and Tagman (that is rather a tagging technology). The quality of the results depends on these factors.
- What do you wish to achieve? Simple no of users that you can even get it from your server logs.
- Would you plug it to an affiliate or eCommerce website? That would create another discussion on your expected results.
- Free or managed paid service?
- What decisions/strategy do you wish to analyse based the data provided from your analytics packages?
Google Analytics is no doubt free and advance enough to give you reasonable insights of your data. If that is not enough then i would suggest trying WebTrends, but i should warn you it requires advance understanding of analytics setup and usage otherwise you won't be able to utilise it effectively.

Google Analytics along with in-house software, but external technology is so tempting!
