Hi All,
A quick tracking questions for anyone who knows...
I have used Stat Counter, use GA and most recently getclicky. Same thing I noticed on each and it's started to bug me...
When analysing my stats, I have noticed (many times) that there is a ‘visitor’ that’s been looking at, clicking though on, let’s say a rather specific page/links/keywords - But I know it’s me, I mean my visits.... when I have been testing links and key words etc.
I have excluded my IP address in the analytics set up obviously; however the analytics say another IP address on the virgin media network, different location, same screen res, browser etc.. which i am so positive is me!....Is this possible? Is it just the tracking software thats up, or my service provider?
Sorry if it’s a glaringly obvious question, I am sure there a simple and really easy answer, but I don’t know it...
anyone else experienced this?

Hey thanks, Ok so is it normal for it to change when you reboot? I mean unless you have set it up otherwise? doesnt that render any filters you have in analytics, pretty pointless (cause you're always updating it?) Not sure about the static IP, how do I find that out? is this a service provider issue?
It is normal yes. Your internet provider will have a set range of IP's and your individual IP can be anywhere in that range.
If you look on

Then turn your router on and off.
Have another look and you'll probably see the last 3 digits have changed.
It's not something I bother with but you may be able to filter the range of IP's in analytics rather than just a specific one?

Thanks for that - it's very good to know that... I'll filter out a range then..
Cheers!
