    Hello

I have a website that is about a year old, and over the course of the year I have been 'slapped' by the big G probably 5 times. At the beginning I could see why G would slap me as I tried to do some SEO practices that G wouldn’t like (not black hat in anyway, by the way, just that I am learning and trial and error got me whacked!)

Anyway, I finally mastered it, and over the last few months the site has gone from strength to strength beating all my targets etc. On Thursday after my best ever day of sales and visits, I have been slapped again and I have no idea why!

I frustratingly tried to ask for help on Google Webmaster Forums only to be told, like always, that I am an affiliate and have a low, weak site. This, IMHO, is not the case, and even if it is, this still doesn’t justify why G liked me before and saw fit to have me on page one for my targeted keywords.

Can anyone tell me what the hell is up with the site? Is it the theme I’m using, the internal links....who knows???

    Thanks in advance

It certainly looks better than a lot of affiliate sites. Assuming all your content is unique etc on a quick look a few things that might have an effect
1/ some of the prices in your comparision are wrong. Not sure this would effect G but still needs fixing especially coming up to xmas when retailers go out of stock etc
2/ the links go direct to the aff network - better to send them trhough a redirect page
3/ the privacy policy and terms of service are images - Google won't be able to read these, better to have them in text
4/ contact us is just an email link - better to have a page with contact details and a form. As above important to have

    Heya!

To be honest once a site has been slapped by Google its always on shakey ground.

Its up to you how you proceed, bare in mind though that the Wii is an ageing console due to be replaced. It might be better forgetting about the site and building a new one, next time use tried and tested seo methods and keep away from the shadey stuff (-:

Is this your only website? If so you would be better building more of them or choosing a niche that's always going to be around and make it yours, not a console or product that will eventually be phased out.

Hey jonsp, thanks for the info. I am working on all the points you said but have a question about point 2-when you say a redirect page do you mean instead of someone clicking on my homepage, instead of them then clicking on a link and going to Tesco for example, it should go to a internal page of my site first that has info on Tesco and the offer?

Thanks findlite for your reply. I fully feel that has I have been wacked by G, that as you say, I am never going to fully be out of the woods regarding a slap here or there. I think what is most frustrating is that I never intentionally do anything shady and try and add value and content to all my pages, so for it then to be penalised when I see so many other dodgy sites above me that appear not to do anything like I do is...well... just the way the cookies crumbles I suppose!

I know that the Wii is ageing, and the site was built as my first attempt at affiliation so I have trial-ed and error-ed my way thru the site, but I suppose I have become attached to it soley coz it started to do well! Thankfully its not my only website as I have another four active ones, so I have those to work on (without all the mess up's I put the Wii site thru!).

I know this is a 'how long is a piece of string' question, but on average how many sites do affiliate marketers have?

Thanks guys for your help..really appreciate it.
