I myself take a look on them ... but my indicator is how many sales I make.
Sure you can not see what is working without statistics ... but to much...
I also must admit that I lost focus watching to much statistics ( how many are visiting my site rather then going for the sales ).
    How about you?

I use site analytics to primarily monitor three aspects.

    Keywords
    Bounce Rates
    Unique Visits

Using Google's annotation tool I also make notes just before I embark on a strategy, be it social or link building. In terms of monitoring sales, it's kind of difficult as I promote quite a few merchants.

My wishlist though would be to set up a kind of tracking that would show me source/campaign->keyword->landing page->conversion.

I've got it down to between one and three times a day. Best not to spend too much time on it and focus on building sites.

I have a few sites to observe daily, so cannot spend much time. The main information are:
    Keywords
    Referring sites
Map overlay (as all the sites are UK targeted)
    sometimes popular landing pages

Did you know that you can craete some custom reports which show the data you want to see without clicking in the menu? I found that feature recently and now very satisfied as it saves lots of time.

Conversion rate and value per conversion are key. It doesn't really matter if you receive 1 million visits if none convert. At the start of a project knowing that a site converts is essential. Then you'll have an idea of how many visitors (~ how much effort) you'll need to attract to generate enough revenue ('enough' is different for everyone).

People tend to forget other information such as browsers and screen resolution are also fairly vital. You need to know who is accessing and on what. I noticed that over 15% of all our visitors were using an apple based platform to view our site and that our flash banner caused multiple problems. By changing to a jquery banner we were able to increase our conversion rate with those visitors.

Referring sites is a very important too. If some of your content is receiving attention on a forum or online community you need to be able to act on it as soon as you can. Typically by the time the stats reflect these views the topic isn't as active but you can always revive it with your own input.

You also need to see your bounce rate, which products are attracting the most attention and which pages accrue the most traffic (As well as least) You need to be able to use these figures to see what you need to change and what isn't working.

To be honest GA, although buggy at times, is pretty handy for viewing lots of handy stats and figures about your site. It's just knowing what to do with that information some people have a problem with.

I use it daily. Try no to get too tied up on it though. Better time to be spent promoting your sites.

We use it pretty much once every half hour. We can respond quickly to things, and it's the Campaigns view that lets us see what's happening with the work we've put in. Organic search and referring sites are great but if we work hard on something it appears in Campaigns and we know we can optimise future campaigns based on the information we get on bounce, time on site, goals, events, etc.

Also kind of my idea. This is unless you are not targeting for visitor ( rather then sales ) and then you quite need the statistics a lot.

I mostly use analytic when in "Experimenting" mode. once my sites start getting a decent traffic then i switch to another project and stop checking analytic for my previous projects. that's the way i use them.

    Interesting plan.
So you check the statistics only to see that what you do is correct. Once it it correct you let the site to go by itself and only check the statistics to see if you are still on top.
This way you can concentrate on other things.

    I like it!
I do this more on sales ( once the business makes sales ) I move to the next one.

I use it only as a measure of consistency and nothing else.

Statistics and crunching data from your Analytics is the core foundation of any business that sells.
You should live in your stats.

If you don't have the time to review stats, your best bet is to generate reports weekly rather than daily. But, you really should be reviewing your stats regularly to identify things like your most popular keywords, highest converting links, maybe even right down to things like geographic location. How else will you know what needs optimizing if you don't look at the data?

I only use it when i periodically dabble with PPC on selected pages (haven't managed to convert at profit recently but wouldn't know this without this facility).

Otherwise i find Google Webmaster Tools stats provides all i need.
