Hi,
I am in the process of looking into the options of possibly migrating to Oz.
I am a 33 year old british male with several years commerical web development experience. I have also been in the AM business for a while and have a keen interest in Social Media, SEO and marketing.
I have already passed the points test for skilled migration - but now have the daunting task of looking for work.
I have earmarked either the west coast (Perth) or somewhere in Queensland as my preferred locations (but would consider anywhere)
I am wondering if anyone could offer help or advise? How best to get work? Sponsorship? Contacts? Anyone know of any openings?
it would be really appreciated
As an overview:
About 7 years experience PHP (both procedual and OO)
Front end development (Photoshop CS5, XHTML, CSS, JQuery)
Relational database design and development (Mysql and Sql server)
Experience in .Net (VB and C#)
Experience in coding and modifying wordpress, price tapestry etc
Affiliate marketing, social media and lead generation
Many more strings to my boe : )
If anyone could offer any advice or tips that would be great and VERY helpful
Thanks

Hi mate, there are approximately 3 billion jobs here - you'll have no problem getting one. We have more problem recruiting than whittling down applicants! Have a look at the major jobs sites (SEEK - Australia's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site, JobsJobsJobs Home Page : Search for new jobs and careers in Australia, Find Jobs. Build a Better Career. Find Your Calling. | CareerOne.com.au and more - let us know which ones are good!) and also Everything Under Australia. Let us know how you get on and what you find!
Now with NEW! SHORTER! SIGNATURE!
If I post at funny hours, it's cos I'm in Oz!
Good advice from Gavinio and I agree that you won't have much trouble finding work. I am sure Western Australians would totally disagree with me and I do think Perth is a lovely modern city but I find it too remote from the other major Australian cities, towns, holiday places etc. There are a lot of British there. If you like the heat then Brisbane/Gold Coast would be fine and it's easier and cheaper to visit the rest of the east coast. I am from UK originally and lived in Sydney for a few years before moving to Melbourne and I love it here.
Depending on the lifestyle you're after, if you like the sunshine and beaches then I would definitely suggest the Gold Coast Queensland or even where I live on the Sunshine Coast. The Sunshine Coast you will find is a very laid back pace of life where nothing happens quickly. There are stacks of jobs here all the time as most teenagers leave the coast to go to one of the major cities. It's an hour from brisbane and an hour and a half from the Gold Coast.
Wow, you must be a very excellent guy! Great working experience and professional skills!
Actually, looking for a nice job in Australia is not very difficult, especially when you are presenting so many great talents. Many companies pay much attention to the working experience and practical abilities when they are searching for employees. You can try the Best Jobs Australia :: Australian job search, job bank, employment and recruitment. This is a very famous website in Australia dealing with jobs. Just sign in this site and complete a personal resume online, and then you can search for your preferred companies and send your appealing resume to them. The HR will contact you if they think you are perfect for the certain positions.
You know with your experience and skills you could even consider possibly starting an Affiliate Program Management business. You have great technical skills and the affiliate marketing experience is a great start. We're in the process now of looking for a preferred OPM (Outsourced Program manager) to offer to some of our newer clients.
Of course this may seem very left field but was simply a suggestion as Australia is a bit low on this type of professional.
