Anti Spyware Week / Anti Adware Week

These domains are available to purchase.

I've looked all over the shop and can't find a specific calendar week anywhere in the world that has been declared as an anti spyware week or anti adware week. Do you know of one?

This is a great opportunity for someone who has £200 to register the above domain names and simply put up one graphic for all to copy and host on their server and also nominate a week for it be hosted. Why not this time next year? You could put links to the most respectable adware and spyware removal software on the front page as well as a little info.

Why am I not doing it? Well maybe in a month I might but I've this idea in my head that just needs releasing, there's definately a lot of scope with the domain names and the project if you can get leading anti spyware and adware sites on board to promote the week and no doubt a few bob to be made if you so wished from selling McAfee. Though that really isn't the point behind the project is it?

So many people moan that spyware and adware are invading pcs and hassling internet users someone needs to grab the bull by the horns and rally a movement. Huge networks and small websites could get on board at a click of a finger during that week, let's face it all networks and sites are affected.

I can only forsee one problem as the idea gets world renowned, you may get DOS attacked and receive various other threats from hackers etc. But isn't it about time there was a week nominated against spyware, adware and scumware? Perhaps there already is, but you'd think the domains above would have been registered surely? No worry if some fool buys them up from seeing this and plan to take advantage, there's other domain names that are just as easy to promote.

Any thoughts? All it takes is for the website to be set up, we can then contact as many anti spyware / adware sites as possible, contact internet groups and individual networks, then onto small websites.

Awin, DGM etc. I am sure would all support the week as well through their newsletters and on their sites, every affiliate could promote the week as well, that's a hell of a lot of people already, Affiliates could include the information at the bottom of their newsletters, thats already hundreds of thousands of people aware of anti adware week and anti spyware week.

Then the media will follow, big business will support the idea and the government powers will stand up and see the reaction as users take it upon themselves to ensure their pc is free of scumware continually!

Your thoughts please. (I know most are away this week but still....) perhaps someone could get one of them on the blower in Gloucester and see what they think? that's 40 or so influential people talking about it straight away!

Cheers
Lee

Thanks for enthusiasm!

I just got this back from a webmaster involved in anti-adware

"We are part of an organization that has begun to consider this idea, so thank you kindly for your suggestion! We have it in the works, and will hopefully be assisting in getting a program like this launched very soon.

All our best!"

Lee (or anyone else)

What programmes would you recommend as best for scumware removal. I have XoftSpy, but they seem to come back as quickly as it removes them. Looks like the site I went to rated them high just because they paid the most commission. Their support basically just says for each FAQ "if they keep coming back, email us and we'll look into it - yeah right!"

I know McAfee do something, but I really do resent having to get so many separate programmes (anti-virus, firewall, spam filters, and now anti scumware) to cover what really should be a standard feature of Windows.

I'm sure there's plenty of money to be made from the right recommendation, not just the one which pays the most.

Like your idea Lee, something all affiliates should support, as Scumware is killing a lot of ecommerce opportunities.

Have you tried http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html and http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html ? These are the programs that work best for me, freeware too.
