  Is There An Anti-Adware Logo?

Do we have an official UK affiliate against adware type logo/button?

Whilst Rich and others do sterling work with the networks and merchants isn't it time affiliates started tackling the issue by educating their user bases.

Some of us have extensive reach to UK internet users and by getting users to do adware checks and make sure they're clean can only help.

I've written a mini-guide for Loquax users (not live yet as I need a couple of people to read through - but others are welcome to use it when ready - no need for credits or link backs) and we've now requested that our users report any pop ups they see on the site.

Anyway if there's a button then that'd be cool

Jason

I've been working on a new version of the spyware logging script I, and a few other people on here, ran last year. While it can't check for everything it will find the users that are most in need of a clean up.

The idea is that running this on as many sites as possible will get useful stats to show people, but the new version will also warn infected users and point them to how to get clean - either a mini site or to the Microsoft spyware pages, which are well presented.

Anyway, I spent all morning trying to create an alert image, but I can't make anything I like. I was thinking of something like the Make poverty history slash, as the idea was it would continue to get displayed until the user clicked on it, but I can't get the balance between simplicity and enough content right.

The other option would be for the script to just show the information to the user once (as a large image over the current page) in which case it needs to be worded to make them act.

Actually, writing this has made me realise that doing both is probably best, a large ish alert when they are found to be infected and a discreet reminded if they don't act.

Still needs a logo..

I have spent the better part of the weekend writing content for a new site geared toward this towards a mass consumer awareness & education campaign.

We intend to even spend on ppc ourselves to market the site with a non commercial aims.

This could be off set by approaching ppc search to persuade them to offer free advertising, we won t be expecting a result on this, but you don't get unless you ask and we can always try the moral aspects.

Perhaps we can knock heads togther on a logo design.
