  Spyware - loss of commision

I have several untracked sales that I know went through my website by a friend, so I sent the details to one merchant to ask why it was untracked.

They said it had been tracked by another affiliate company.

I then contacted my friend who had put through the sale and she says when she clicks on my banner, the affiliate company in question flashes up and then it goes to the merchant. In another banner the link ends with the other affiliates ID in the url.

This affiliate has obviously hijacked the link somehow.

I have checked the same banners on various pc's and they are fine, so it must be just on her pc.

From her pc I have untracked sales from AWIN, and Buy.at, a definate problem with AF links, however amazon works fine.

I think its disgraceful that another affiliate would use these tactics.

Try and get the affiliate id and report it to the network in question - all of the networks you have mentioned now have a zero tolerance policy to spyware.

I have reported the website to awin as I have confirmation from the merchant that they got the sale. Lets hope they will find the ID.

I am still waiting to hear from buy.at as to who got the sale.

On spyware yes, I haven't read the official lines in a while but of the companies mentioned one has contacted me direct as a merchant preaching the benefits of adware and asking if they would be allowed onto the programme.

from an affiliate point of view id just like to know the merchants working with spyware, it may also be worth dropping them an email to see if they actually know they are working with spyware and what it is. You'd have thought they would but its shocking the state some programmes are allowed to continue to run in

Andrew

I just tried calling you with an update. I have found your communciation which was direct to the merchant as an untracked sale. The account manager is looking into the situation and will update you as soon as possible.

The culprit is on the Zanox network, so if anyone from Zanox reads this can you contact me as so far my emails to you have been ignored

Perhaps zanox might finally learn some time that spyware/adware is not welcome......
