Complete rubbish, google is just a website, the merchants do not own or have a right to be ranked high in google and nor do we, its a service which tries to help the visitor find what they are looking for.

If google wasn't so flooded with expired codes then the merchants and affiliates promoting valid offers would not get swamped out by affiliates promoting invalid offers.

The whole point of affiliate marketing is to push the merchants valid offers above merchants who do not participate in affiliate marketing and one of the most effective way to do this is by ranking high in google which involves hard work and skill, which is part of what we are getting paid for.... yet some people get wrongly paid for being underhand.

Wether it has expired codes or utter rubbish on it makes no difference, it can easily be made to rank.

Some people just create some misleading page titles and add in a mix of good and bad content, this is not specific to discount codes. Now this is not a dig but an observation:

Regarding pagerank10, it contains a lot of quality content.... but sadly, yes it does contain some utter rubbish, and that is the problem with it.. I admit that, for those who don't know about pagerank10.. the utter rubbish has been added by affiliates (not us), and one of the biggest offenders of this utter rubbish entered into pagerank10 was Doug!

Anyway the point is that there is loads of rubbish content on the internet and deleting expired codes will not solve the problem

It will not solve the problem, but it will certainly get rid of a noticeable percentage of it.

Doug, you attacked our website so it was only fair I gave an example as to what you were refering to, just because you are the biggest creator of the junk on our website gives me the right to use it as an example to defend myself.

If any merchant is unhappy with any page on pagerank10 please let me know and ill delete the offending page(s) and in extreme cases ban the page owner responsible if the page(s) in question is damaging to your company.

Leeky, i'm shocked by some of your comments on this thread, so much so i'm seriously considering ceasing to use your icodes service, it does'nt reflect well on your business.

Ash, I actually agree with what you say to some extent, but its not easy to keep calm when you're up against everyone with no backup, that includes the above affiliates, moderators, networks and the IAB.

Regarding damaging our business, well due to this thread and my posts i've gained a further six webservices users and had a number of emails stating that they agree with everything i've been saying regarding the expired codes... the problem is they won't post here becasue of the group bullying tactics.

My apologies, if that is what you think, but I doubt you will find a nw or merchant we work with who thinks I butter them up. I would reckon I have more arguements behind the scenes than almost anyone on this forum and actually operate with more integrity and honesty than most people I have ever met.

If I am blunt about promtions.co.uk we will probably give up offering any service to normal affiliates. Leeky can have them all. I am utterly astonished at the amount of rubbish I hear from them. We will focus as we have been now for months on developing partnerships with people who can actually drive real business, and don't talk garbage.

I will still argue on here about codes but only as the nw's wont say what they all know.

Lee - and why is that everyone disagrees with you? As has been mentioned numerous times if you want to state your case go to the iab meetings and stop whinging on here.

Lee - I have paid you for a service and as a customer I do not wish you showing our dealing in public.

Most of you will be pleased to know that this is my last post on this forum, no matter if you agree what I say or not my posts are twisted and scrutenized to try and devalue my valid points, and to make out im here to just squabble when my "squabbling" is actually defending myself from the group bullying.

Some people will see through whats going on, but most obviously do not and take things at face value, I have learnt that there is no point in arguing when the people you are arguing with are the ones in charge, I honestly think its a very sad situation, but at the end of the day its down to pure greed of those at the top.

Having read this entire thread I wonder why any merchant gets involved with voucher codes and am now even more convinced that we made the right decision in dropping all codes.
Incidentally, on our new in house program our best affiliate earned £400 plus last month without codes, not bad for a program that only started the second week of February!!

At the risk of being slated.. I too, think that it's a bit drastic! This is a debate and what you said Lee was true but more to the point it was your view.. The problem is that there is a bully boy tactic on this board, you will never win on it! I don't believe you will with IAB either, guidelines will be made to suit the majority of this forum. The fact is that there are hundreds of affiliates who prefer to walk down your road.. and it's those affiliates that are insulted.. but they read, unfortunately prefer not to reply, which makes you look to be on your own... OK, you may lose Ash, but so what! it's his loss..
So come back on Lee, stand for the hundreds who haven't got the guts to reply...
