Hi
I see your point Ian and agree
We don't support spyware and never would under any circumstances. Our sign up proceedure is entirely manual so we would catch anyone like this at sign up. Our duplicate merchants are:
Morgan Stanley CJ --->SQ
Barclaycard CJ --->SQ
Capital One CJ --->SQ
There will be others in the next few weeks.
Many thanks
Jenny

Hi
I see your point Ian and agree
That this is a great campaign but what would also be nice would be for us to promote a product like ad-aware that offered a free and a paid for service.
And it didn't delete cookies (only adware and spyware).
Is this mission impossible?
It would rock if it was an affiliate program as well.

Did you mean to put "NOT" in that sentence? Parasiteware certainly isn't the one and only serious threat to affiliate income, but I won't rant in case it was a typo.Originally posted by ozbiz
The point is that parasiteware is the one and only serious threat to affiliate income.
... and how would you get it onto their machines? Piggy back it onto freeware apps? driveby installs? One reason parasiteware works is because - for the punter - there is very little downside, and in the case of rebate and other incentive programs, a distinct upside. The parasiteware has to be removed from the users machines.
A combination software tool backed by a team continually developing fixes for parasiteware installs will probably be the next big thing.[/B]
Anyway, this is off-topic so I'll stop there. Back on topic (ish) the only 2 arguments I've seen work to move merchants are 1) moral - it's just "wrong" and 2) financial - they're paying (sometimes extra) for business they would get anyway. Your personal degree of cynicism dictates what you think the proportions are.

Kind regards,
If anyone is interested I have correlated all of the network postings, and slapped 'em all in a spreadsheet, to make it easier to change over links (as per attached)
It is interesting to note that both Littlewoods Index and Lloyds TSB Insurance are with both CJ and TD, in addition to other networks - perhaps if there are any large affiliates*, who could apply particular pressure to these merchants to get the remaining two networks to sort out their policy ??
Hope it is of some use,
Duncan
* In the £££'s sense as opposed to the "yep, I sit at a PC all day eating and being exposed to radiation, whilst not bothering with exercise - hence I am large"
You're a star.
thanks
brilliant Duncan, theres a few I hadn't picked up on

Earlier in this thread it was suggested that a program which would remove 180 solutions from a customer's PC would be a good idea.
In the absense of such a regularly updated program I would like to suggest that everyone places a link on their main page to a simple tutorial on removing this parasiteware.
The instructions are:
Ncase is a Comparison Alternative Shopping Engine developed by 180 Solutions. It appears to be installed via an ActiveX drive-by download or bundled with several file sharing programs and a few others. It will cause pop-up advertisements, can add shortcut items to the Startup or Desktop, and update itself.
There are a couple variants of Ncase, the normal one as well as at least one installed by an Active X drive-by download.
How do I Remove NCase?
1) Because several files may be in use currently when NCase has
infected your system, you should first start Windows in Safe Mode, generally by pressing F8 when the computer restarts and choosing Safe Mode for the list of choices.
2) Remove the Startup Entry in the Registry
Click on Start, Run, Type REGEDIT and Click OK
Click the pluses(+) next to the following items
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Software
Microsoft
Windows
CurrentVersion
Run
Right-Click on the file MSBB and click DELETE
Check for any randomly named entries pointing to an EXE file of the same name in the Windows directory
(this can be part of the NCASE infection as well)
Click the pluses(+) next to the following items
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Software
Microsoft
Windows
CurrentVersion
Uninstall
Right-click and Delete the following folders
nCase
msbb
Click the pluses(+) next to the following items
HKEY_Current_User
Software
Right-click and Delete the folder called 180solutions
3) Delete the NCASE folder and/or the MSBB.exe file
Open My Computer, Drive C, Program Files
Right-click on the NCASE folder (if it exists) and Delete it, you may
also find a 180Solutions folder, delete this as well.
Look for and Delete MSBB.EXE in the System or System32 directory under Windows
4) Remove the Active X Control (if present)
Open My Computer, Drive C, Windows, Downloaded Program Files folder
Right-click on the nCaseInstaller Class entry (if present) and click
Delete
Close back out to the Desktop
5) Reboot the computer in Normal Mode and test (ncase should be gone)
The link to the above is http://www.pchell.com/support/ncase.shtml
