thats it! I've had enough. I'm going to become a monk and knit jumpers for the needy.

It's a complete joke. We can see that this stuff is damaging the internet just as much as the threat of viruses and hacking of e-commerce data. But no fecker does anything about it.

To date all we've had is a few networks in the UK say they don't use it, some yank our manhood and beat around the bush and produce a half-baked "solution".

We've got a handful of pro-active merchants that don't allow them on "adware-friendly" networks.

We've also got adware companies that try and appear whiter than white. Oooh we help users, we provide a valuable and needy service. Feck off you're just a bunch of greedy bastards!

And now we've got a dip-squit judge in America saying that the anti-scumware law being put through in Utah is wrong.

a Utah State Judge has enjoined the Utah Spyware Control Act on the basis that it is likely an unconstitutional restriction on interstate commerce in general, and on online advertising in particular.

I've had enough of double standards of some affilites, networks and adware companies themselves. It is plan as day that these companies do all they can to infiltrate users machines. It is clear that some affiliates won't make a stand against it because they are too frigging lazy or self-obsessed to remove the organisations that support them; and the networks and ppc feed players know they are breaking their T&C's or harming the internet and they do feck all about it.

I'm redesiging my espot site to remove them and replace with Mirago. I may take a short term loss but in the long term we'll all be better off.

Fecked off, angry - you ain't seen the start of it!

Me think it's time to play hardball with offending networks, since sensible dialogue has gone unheeded.

If any ethical affiliate is genuinely interested in attending a roundtable with merchants, simply send me a message.

I will be employing someone to contact every merchant on the networks CJ & TD, with a cordially invitation. Going above the affiliate manager to senior directors.

Too many merchants are verbally saying they are against it but too weak to actually do anything.

Every pop up you come across resulting from spyware, please report here, if they don't care enough about their brand then more awareness to their consumers etc... might give them the proverbial boot up the backside.

Thanks Qui Gon Jinn. You are doing a lot of work on behalf us affiliates on this issue and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I'm always writing to advertisers (that's what I'll call 'em now, 'cos that's all they are) to encourage them to increase their often miserly commission rates for all affiliates. Have also contacted TD/CJ about the spyware issue, but QGJ and others are the ones who are really devoting time to it.

Thanks a million on behalf of all the rest of us.

"some affiliates won't make a stand against it because they are too frigging lazy or self-obsessed to remove the organisations that support them [spyware]"

You are right, getvisible. It ruins it for all of us. The same thing annoys me about affiliates who jump for joy when there's a new affiliate program that offers us 4% commission when the merchants are enjoying profit margins of 60%+. I refuse to promote advertisers who pay miserly rates of commission, but because other affiliates do, there is no incentive for them to increase their commission rates.

    We need to band together.
