I've not seem any news from the IAB on this yet - I expect the minutes are still being typed - but it looks like Ben Wood from Vizeum has been elected chair of the AMC.

Ben is MD at Vizeum, one of the media brands of Aegis Media (who also run Carat)

Its good to see a decision was made, and it was a tricky one by the council - Any thoughts on the outcome?

Yes - Ben did indeed get the seat, it's a shame that he has not managed to find the time to post about getting the chair himself yet - hopefully he'll introduce himself to the forum at some point soon..

It was an interesting meeting - lots of people turned up, which was great and hopefully something that we'll see more of - was also good to see Julie there.

I must admit that I was disapointed about the outcome of the vote (not just because I didn't "win" myself) but won't go into it on here as I don't want it to be seen a sour grapes - hopefully I am wrong and with any luck the IAB will help provide more education to new merchants and start to do more in 2008 to improve the perseception of affiliate marketing as a viable and worthwhile marketing channel.

Look forward to seeing a few more people at the Council this year - merchants and affiliates should be reminded it's free to attend and put your voice across..

Firstly I have to say how good it was to see so many people there on Thursday (even if there was a little bit of a Tradedoubler Charabanc outing) - let's hope we can keep that level of attendance all year.

It is disappointing that Ben has not yet posted here (and for that matter that he could not actually be at the meeting) - I hope this is not an indication that he does not really have the time to devote to the job - only time will tell but maybe he would do well to remember that you only have one chance to make a first impression.

That said, it was a democratic decision and he got the majority of the votes and I do understand some of the reasons behind those who voted for him choosing to do so.

Let's hope he can take the proverbial bull by the horns and move the council forward.

    Onwards and upwards...........

Were the votes all cast by people at the meeting?

    Hi Dave

Yes the votes were all cast by people at the meeting - in total there were 11 companies entitled to vote with one vote per company. Of those 11, 10 were present at the meeting and so there were 10 votes cast.

There is a press release re Ben's appointment being issued by the IAB in the next couple of days and as the minutes of the meeting have now been circulated to those present I assume they will be posted here soon.

I have to say it was my first meeting and I quite enjoyed myself. I also enjoyed the beers afterwards a bit too much. The only shame was the fact it was very Network heavy, only 1 merchant and 2 affiliates. I'll be attending the next meeting and I'd love to see more affiliates and merchants there too. Put the date in your diary now 28th February 15.00 intil 16.30 and then the pub on the corner until whenever!

James, everyone knows man-flu is deadlier than bird flu.

I'll be very interested to see the minutes and hear from anyone who was at the meeting. Shame the IAB's offer of free attendance for affiliates didn't bring a few more people to the table ( )

Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend as I'd hoped but I'm very interested to find out about what went on and keep in touch with developments.

Everybody Loves Raymond revolves around Ray Barone, a successful sportswriter living on Long Island with his wife, Debra, 12-year-old daughter, Ally, and 8-year-old twin sons, Geoffrey and Michael. That's the good news.
    :tup
The bad news? Ray's meddling parents, Frank and Marie, live directly across the street and embrace the motto "Su casa es mi casa," infiltrating their son's home to an extent unparalleled in television history. Frank's favorite expression, "Holy Crap," is shouted at regular intervals, and Marie's "cooking advice" is less than appreciated by Debra. Brother Robert, a divorced policeman, is constantly moving in and out of his parents' house, and loves to drop over and resent Ray's successful career and happy family life. Ray and Debra just wish someone would knock once in a while.

The comedic timing of that spam was fantastic.
