Setanta Sports - Has a Brand Bidding Group

It appears Setanta Sports has a brand bidding group, though this is not disclosed for transparency in the program details. I hear that there is maybe other better affiliate(s) who may have been over looked too.

This is what has been brought to our attention from a cheesed of affiliate which I have no hestitaion in posting

The BBG seems to be famliar which isn't a surprise at all.

setanta - Google Search

www.Setanta.digital-tv.co.uk

I realise that a rep from Setanta sometimes posts, sorry old chap but if i see any post promoting Setanta then i will remind them about the BBG and overwriting of cookies.

you might not agree with the bbg, but don't click on their ads just to waste their cash.

This totally stinks of "jobs for the boys"

I was asked by a rep if I would be interested in a paid search group for Setanta. I have heard nothing from Buy.at and low and behold on the 5th May it starts up with not even a courtesy email from Buy.at

Talk about underhand and lack of transparency.

Haha,

So sad, I feel ashamed to even reply!! I'm sorry Matt, this forum seems to be turning into a one man's attempt to slander any affiliate who is successful!

Paul, if you had contacted me about this I would have been able to point out the value we have added, it has been proven long before we were on the brand term.

Yes we are bidding in on the brand, but this is a recent event. We have been working with Setanta for a long time now, promoting them on a huge scale without the use of the brand...We have been asked to help keep Virgin and other competitors out of the space!

With regards a clicking day!! I'm afraid its sad and very pathetic! i wish i could have something better to say , but to be honest im surprised anyone intelligent enough to be an affiliate is coming up with stupid things like this.... Surely we should be working together to improve the industry so that we can be taken seriously!!

not when affiliates are fed up with their cookies being over-written, it isn't

Re: Setanta Sports - Has a Brand Bidding Group

I wonder whether the time will come where some networks 'specialise' solely in BBGs and actually don't bother with the other aspects of affiliate marketing. It would be a much easier business to run. Use scare tactics to gain merchant compliance. Hey ho.

I'm not familiar with PPC stuff etc etc etc... but a search for Setanta shows a doubleclick ad... which suggests to me they're already doing that themselves? So I don't understand if they're doing this themselves what benefit is there if they have others doing it as well?

Ok, that's true ... would you be happy to suggest that Buy.at put in place something that stops brand name bidding cookies not overwriting say another affiliate's cookie if that click originated from content for example? I believe Awin have done this with Woolworths for example?

Would that kind of move improve the industry?

Also wouldn't more transparency help as well... so that all affiliates know what's happening with regards BBGs?

Jason

Why then do you have a link in the main nav to this page:
Virgin Media (formerly NTL) - Cable TV | Digital TV ?
