Thumbs up Pizza Hut Affiliate Programme Now Live

Hi all,

Blue Barracuda, Pizza Hut and Buy.at are pleased to announce the launch of the long anticipated Pizza Hut Affiliate Programme. For further details please see below.

You can sign up here.

Pizza Hut – Unleash The Happiness

With over 40 years experience and billions of pizzas in the making, we like to think we're doing things right. Here's the low down on us, where we're going and how you can share in our success.

The Pizza Hut Story

We started our life in 1958 when Frank and Dan Carney opened the first Hut in Wichita, Kansas. The first Pizza Hut restaurant was only small, with enough room for 25 seats; the restaurant sign only had space for nine letters. Frank and Dan wanted to have 'Pizza' in the name, which left space for just 3 more letters. Because the building looked like a hut... Pizza Hut was born! Fifteen years later, the first UK restaurant opened. Since then we have grown to become the biggest Pizza Company on the planet. We're the UK's leading pizza restaurant and delivery chain too, with over 600 outlets across the country.

The Pizza Hut Affiliate Program

When you join the Pizza Hut affiliate program you are partnering with the UK’s premier pizza delivery program. We offer all our affiliates 7.5% commission on each new customer that shops online at PizzaHut.co.uk

Cookie - 30 days

Our customers benefit from regular promotions, exciting deals in addition to a large variety of new products and toppings.

Paul

Is this 7.5% on first order, if a customer a existing customer we get nothing?

I order far too many pizza hut pizzas!! but have never opened an account so do you only get commission if they customer opens a new account

Hi Purple,

The programme rewards commissions on new customers and expired customers (no order in the last 6 months) only.

A lot of number crunching, analysis and learnings went into the best method to approach the commercials of the programme and it was felt that larger commissions upfront rather than token payments on all orders was the only way to bring a programme like this to the table.

We've been monitoring the analytics for some time and the level of new customers to PizzaHut.co.uk currently varies between 30%-50%.

Hope this helps.

Paul

Re: Pizza Hut Affiliate Programme Now Live

Not sure whether welshest Wales is an exception to the rule but I've just typed in my postcode and out of 5 Hut's, 4 are offline (i.e. I cannot place an order with them as they are not web enabled). Also, the one I can place an order with is for collection only.

It would be interesting to see how a program like this a) can be promoted by affiliates and b) performs overall.

A program like this doesn't seem to fit in with anything I run (yet!) which is why I'm intrigued as to how other affiliates would promote such a program, other than PPC and voucher codes.

As for the overall performance, because of the collection only in my case, I wouldn't order online. I would be more inclined to visit the Hut after seeing the banner adverts. I'm just wondering how many like minded customers would do the same.

On a side note, I'm looking forward to seeing what incentives will be on offer! Free pizza (vouchers?) would go down a treat!

Re: Pizza Hut Affiliate Programme Now Live

Hi David,

That's not to be unexpected. There are unfortunately people that are out of delivery range. Thankfully though more stores come online every month and as Pizza Hut identify new areas of opportunity even more stores will open up.

There's also the challenge of working with franchises and traditional PH restaurants. They can all see the positives in integrating with the online ordering side of things and in general can't update their POS systems fast enough

To give you an idea there are over 300 online delivery enabled stores tied in with the online ordering service which represents a coverage of over 30% of the entire UK.

On a side note I hope to be as transparent as possible with affiliates in relation to the programme and will provide you all with as much info as I can. Please bare in mind that some info will be sensitive due to PH competitors and related affiliate programmes.

Paul

Are the discount codes on a pizzahut page that can be deep linked too so that users click through to get the codes and burns a cookie?

I've got worse than that here in Colchester, Essex - no online stores!

I'm the voucher codes angle myself and can see this converting pretty well if they had coverage, but would find it hard to see how other styles of aff sites would approach it. Maybe a spammy Facebook app? "Who can make the tastiest pizza?", "The great big worldwide pizza hunt"?, just thinking aloud

But at the end of the day it's the coverage issue, as a few have noted, that's letting it down. There's enough good affiliates around here with some crazy enough ideas to convert anything, and could up-sell the air we breathe!

Would be great, "First time customer - Free Pizza!" could work?

Anyway I'll give it a punt, but we're back to coverage.

Re: Pizza Hut Affiliate Programme Now Live

Might be me taking an oversimplistic view of things but why does it matter if the stores have online capability.

If they don't, why don't Pizza Hut collect the details of the Pizza you want centrally, then either just email the details to the store in question or failing that use fax software to fax the details to your nearest store - hardly rocket science true - but it would enable all stores nationwide to have pizzas booked online for minimal cost...

As it is, I think this has potential but has maybe been rolled out a bit too early and could have done with more stores being online prior to launch.
