Buy.at - why all the rejections?

We very rarely get rejected by merchants on all other networks, so I just wondered why we have been rejected by around 66 programmes on buy.at so far?

Obviously there is something about pagerank10.co.uk which buy.at doesn't approve of, can you et me know what it is because this is starting to be a real pain.

If things don't improve I may just reject any future buy.at pages/ text ads and discount codes being added by affiliates.

Re: Buy.at - why all the rejections?

Hi Lee,

Rejections tend to be higher with us as approvals are done manually. A lot of our merchants tend to have tighter restrictions which we adhere to. A lot of programmes are approved by merchants directly as well so I suspect a number may have rejected you without fully appreciateing the model of pagerank10.

With all rejections, we encourage affiliates to contact us (support@buy.at) if they feel rejections are unjust or inappropriate. I've sent a mail round to all account managers asking for a review of your rejected programmes.

Regards

Thanks very much Dave :-)

I think with the site redesign it maybe easier for the merchants to understand what we are about this time around.

We are making quite a lot of automated improvements which will require all our own affiliate id's to take advantage of expired pages / expired voucher codes etc instead of going to a 404 page and wasting traffic.

Cheers

Lee

Re: Buy.at - why all the rejections?

Still getting loads of rejections from buy.at

I take it then if our website gets rejected then that merchant doesn't want any affiliate at all to promote that programme via any section of pagerank10 e.g. text ads, full page ads, voucher codes, special offers and so on? If so i could create a list of merchants they are not allowed to promote on our website.

Also if we get rejected we are unable to promote that network / merchant to other affiliates via facilities on their 'my account' as all the data about networks / merchants are stored in the same database used for visitors and affiliates.

If we received an exact reason as to each rejection then i maybe able to do something about it, or explain if I think their reason for rejection is incorrect.

Re: Buy.at - why all the rejections?

Hi Leeky,

Its hard to reply in a generalised manner. We do have a large number of programmes on the network where the merchant does the approvals for the programme. I suspect a lot of the rejections do come from these merchants.

If you feel you are being rejected unfairly, we would encourage you to reply to that specific programme and we will be able to chase your application with the individual merchants.

Regards

I think its quite an easy reply.. either... ban everyone from promoting them, or continue to let everyone promote them.

I obviously feel we are being rejected unfairly by all who we are rejected by or I wouldn't be complaining.

IIs it just a lucky dip? I get refused at buy.at so i go to another network who has the same merchant and get accepted.

Your about as popular as google with me at the moment.. hmmm?, buy.at > aol (powered by google) lol

Hi Leeky,

I can't speak for the other networks, but possibly it might be that we have more 'layers' when approving affiliates for our programmes. You have been approved on 159 programmes, 36 pending and 51 rejected. The rejections could be for a catalogue of reasons. If you could contact me via email or phone then we can see what we can do about any programmes you would like to be reconsidered for. A lot of those rejections could be due to the merchant and our hands are tied. I'm sorry you feel that you are being treated unfairly. I assure you that the approvals of programme applications is not 'lucky dip' as you suggest.

If you can contact me either on 0207 299 8383 or email me jon.chapman@buy.at and hopefully we can get this resolved.

Cheers

Jon

Ps. We may have been bought out by AOL, but this doesn't mean that anything is going to change in trying to provide the affiliates the best service possible and we won't lose sight of this I asure you.

Re: Buy.at - why all the rejections?

Im not too concerned about these rejections now because we have found a way to provide our service without being accepted ourselves.

However can you please explain these rejection purely out of interest..

Petplan - Equine (rejected)
Petplan (approved)

How come our site is approved by petplan to insure any pet as long as its not a horse???

Is it because they think the type of person who visits our site are likely to commit horse insurance fraud? or perhaps more likely to crash a horse into a lampost?... im baffled,

Lee

Re: Buy.at - why all the rejections?

I too was rejected by PetPlan - and my site is a very large, unique content, dog site. As a dog breeder myself I also promote PetPlan to my puppy buyers.

Buy.at said they would look into it but I never heard back from them! If PetPlan don't accept a site like Welcome to The Dog Scene then what will they accept?

I kinda lost heart with BuyAt after that - PetPlan was the main reason I joined them!

I'm not sure to be honest and I will check with the account manager for this programme and get back to you.

I'm sure there is a perfectly rational explanation for this though and not that we or the merchant run background checks on known users of your site for horse related incidents. However, I will double check on this!
