I'm curious as to how other mobile content affiliates are finding the current mobile casino / mobile gambling affiliate programs working out.

I have plenty of experience to share, specifically in the mobile casino and mobile gambling arena.

How's it working out for you?

    Hey Fox,

I'm afraid I can't offer you any information but hoping that perhaps you can help me - BetFred.com have recently launched a mobile sports betting platform which is integrated to the affiliate programme. I'm looking for ways to target mobile-specific affiliates to help us promote this.

Do you know if there are any reputable mobile affiliate networks out there?

    Regards

    Hi Fox,

To be honest, I'm old school. Although I've had plenty of my long term aff managers try and talk me into promoting mobile gaming, I still not convinced. The majority of my gambling traffic is target to Australia and New Zealand, and although we have phones capable of playing online casinos et al... I'm not sure people would bother.

Unlike say UK, people in oz are not travelling large distance to work or where ever on public transport. I couldn't see people for instance being at home playing, when it's likely they'd have access to a laptop or PC.

Obviously there must be a market otherwise bet fred, 32red and others wouldn't bother with it.

    Cheers

    Dave

Since the iPhone / iPad and now andriod etc, mobile gaming shouldn't be ignored. The interface of say the ladbrokes app makes it a doddle to place a bet. You see people in the pub or workplace tapping away placing their bets. It will only grow. I would just like to know though, how this can work for affiliates.

e.g. User googles on their moby: "mobile gambling sites"
Registers with ladbrokes through your affiliate site.

How are we rewarded? What if they're directed to the app store, install then place a bet via the app? Is there a way of tracking this?

From what I've been told by aff managers (MGS) tracking occurs in a similar way to generic aff tagging. EG - Player follows link, player downloads app and registers. aff is tagged to sign-up...The exact way this process works, I'm not 100% sure.

However the same quandary presents itself with mobile, download or flash... If a player follows a link and does not sign-up via the aff link but visits the site later via a type in or Google et al...Will the aff still get credit for the sign-up?

Does mobile use a cookie structure?

If anyone is keen on exploring this vertical it would be best going to the source (aff program) and asking these questions. Otherwise most times it's the blind leading the blind and misinformation is usually riff!

There are a number of reputable mobile affiliate networks and individual mobile affiliates out there (here), but I doubt you'll get any to work with 'betfred mobile' while your mobile registration page has this sentence plastered across the top... "If you prefer you can open an account with us by calling 0800 0xx xxxx".

I arrived at the registration page when testing a 'betfred mobile' affiliate link on the following mobile devices:

    - iPhone
    - iPod Touch
    - iPad
    - HTC Android
    - Blackberry

Currently, you'll NOT be rewarded for referring a user to install a native app (an app from the iTunes App Store/Android App Store). They can't/don't track the referral.

From my own expereince, the only way you can avoid losing out on commissions for these type of referrals is simply not promote them.

This does mean that you'll not be able to promote some of the well known gambling/betting/casino brands that have created native apps available in the 'app store'. So you need to decide if it's worth the effort to promote just the web/wap based versions.

If we did this for every vertical, there'd be no need for these forums. We'd just let the salaried affiliate program managers tell us what works.

I'd have gone broke 10 years ago if I'd have bought into every bit of affiliate manager hype

Surely your post..." I still not convinced... although we have phones capable of playing online casinos... I'm not sure people would bother" is a good example of the blind leading the blind, whom then go on to lead the blind.

Try it, before you knock it. More importantly you should try it before you discourage others.

    All due respect given

I just started my first gambling portal for mobiles (literally today) so am very interested in this.
I'm assuming SEO is the same for mobile sites i.e. building relevant links, article links etc
I'm just struggling to find enough sites that offer a mobile alternative (very few bingo sites offer a mobile platform as far as I can see and only 1 poker site)

There are some really good egaming mobile networks out there who supply volumes of traffic on a performance-basis.
CPA and Cost Per Downloads deals can work very well on such networks.
If any egaming operators or affiliates are looking to connect with such networks, and have their campaigns managed very effectively - please feel free to contact me by phone (01908511579), email (christian@bettorcommunications.com) or via my website Bettor Communications - eGaming Media and Technology Specialists in the Online Bingo, Casino, Poker and Sports Betting sectors
