    Hi Anthony,

Mate, if you've got a couple of spare minutes would you mind explaining how mobile gaming is tracked to the referring affiliate?

Seems I'm not the only affiliate here having a hard time getting my head around this concept.

    Cheers

    Dave

    Apologies for the delayed response...

The tracking issue is clearly key and one that operators and affiliates have struggled with in this channel in some cases.

The key difference with us is that rather than developing a downloadable app, we have a mobile-optimised website with all the same odds, offers and bets as BetFred.com. The tracking remains online and web-based as normal via our Income Access system, players just access the web via their mobile handsets instead of a PC. We have regular banners for your websites and mobile-optimised banners for your mobile sites but it all works in the same way as usual - the only difference is in the device that the player is using to access the internet.

In addition to this, we can also offer affiliates a way to track players who sign up via their mobile device FIRST Many of our competitors can only suggest that you get the registration online first and then drive the player towards their mobile product.

With BetFred, you will be able to apply for a Mobile Tracking Keyword that you can promote to your players: "Just text [keyword] to 89660" Players then receive an auto-SMS containing a link for them to click from their phone. This link already contains your unique tracking parameter so that when they sign up you get the referral.

Using Mobile Tracking Keywords like this means that you don't even need to have a mobile-optimised site to be able to benefit from this new market which is growing rapidly in the UK. Affiliates of all types who promote sportsbetting will be able to drive players towards a platform that is simple and convenient for players to use and still get the credit for the referral.

The tracking keywords require some configuration and will be allocated on request. The banners for mobile are available in the usual way from BetFredaffiliates.com but note that you will find them in the 'BetFred' folder and not the 'BetFred - Sports' folder.

So that's basically how we will be tracking mobile - using income access' reputable systems as normal.

Hope that answers your question - let me know if you'd like any further info

    Anthony

The SMS keyword is a nice touch. But the sign up page that I send my users too, still encourages/promotes the user to call a 0800 telephone number. I'll not be shouting about your service on my 'mobile betting / casino' apps & sites until this is removed.

    Regards - Fox

    Thanks for the feedback, Fox

Is your objection the fact that the user by then is already using their phone at this point and then being asked to make a call for assistance?

I want to be sure what the core issue is for you so that I can feed it back to the developers.

If you have any suggestions then I'm happy to hear them and do my best to improve the product.

    Thanks again

My sense would be that if someone is already to the process of registering (navigating via the mobile), they would be unlikely to use the phone number to register unless they were truly having issues. In this scenario, if the number was not there, the registration would likely be lost anyways. So I wouldn't expect to see a dramatic difference from an affiliate perspective with or without the number on the registration page.

Have you had a much different experience Fox?

Anthony. The short answer is YES.

The long answer is... with all due respect, you are the Mobile Affiliate Manager... u figure it out. I've been working with your competitors for months and it's working out fine for.

A few weeks ago, you asked me to sign up and promote betfred.com on my mobile gambling sites. I signed up, and noted the skimming. I'd didn't bother promoting.

Louis. The short answer is yes.

The longer answer is, I suggest you check out the mfortune sign up process. They're on same network you work for ( Affiliate Marketing Software | iGaming Affiliates | Income Access ). I've enjoyed a mild, but profitable success with them since signing up 10 weeks ago. Just under £1000 in commission.

Thanks for the comments FoxTucker - whilst I can see that you're not over joyed I do appreciate the feedback as it's cartainly more use to me that being told that everything is fine and not to change anything.

I'm happy to put my hands up and say that I've been in Affiliates for around 5 years but never promoted mobile before so thought it better to be open about that than try and make out I have as much experience as specialists like yourself.

can you tell me what you mean by 'Skimming' - do you mean we're doing something we shouldn't?
