Is my understanding correct that if we send people who have a betfair exchnage account (in our case most our traffic!) to the casino then we get paid nothing?

Yes, unfortunately you are correct. Betfair don't currently offer an open wallet system, so if a player who's initally signed up to Betfair Casino, later decides to sign up to Betfair Poker, Betfair would treat them as their own player and you wouldn't be credited with anything.

If the situation does ever change, I'll definitely let you know.
