Hoping for some tips and advice. I have a football site with regular content since 2001. I have recently converted to Wordpress and optimised for SEO so now the site ranks very well. Posts rank well and quickly in SERPS. It's PR5, was PR6 til last year when I went a couple of months without posting.
Traffic is only around 1000 uniques per day at the moment but I can build that up quickly back to around the 5000 it used to get if it's worth my while.
I tried betting affiliates before briefly just by adding banners and some text links but got very little success. Didn't pay as much as CPM advertising.
Any advice? What programs should I run? Feeds? Is it worth my while or is the market too saturated?

It is great not to have your eggs all in the one basket. You should compliment your CPM advertising with another revenue stream like Google ads or an affiliate program.
Affiliate programs are about long term relationships and you should partner yourself with a well known brand to help convert your traffic over and try to work a special deal as it sounds like you have good traffic.
